ug 0
Or are we just going through a lull before the next winter front moves in? It certainly seems mild for mid-Feb. Not so great conditions at lots of places this weekend

damian 0
I am glad i didnt bother getting my board waxed this season.
Fattwins 0
spring and wax go hand in hand db
damian 0
.... but db and spring do not go hand in hand.
grungy-gonads 54
Its enough to make even me grumpy. We've not seen the last of the snow though people. No need to fret.
Fattwins 0
db spring riding is sic the trees in spring are so fun as long as they are not too mushie. Plus the park or jumps are pretty soft you can practise your backflips.
mattlucas 0
I have to agree with Fattwins there. I love a powder day just as much as the next person but getting a good run on corn snow is also very fun.
Plucky 0
I just checked the 7 day forecast for my neck of the woods - it's going to be warm and well above freezing for the next week during the days. 8 degrees C for highs? Dang..... Probably means the rainy season will last a couple of extra months too... I love spring skiing, but this is a bit early I'd say.
damian 0
I have not tried any corn riding that The Beanie and F-twins are talking about. Might give it a bash this weekend. My bias that drives the anti-spring is that I like the stormy, blizzard dumps of winter and I do not like freeze-thaw ice. I will try the corn this weeknd.
mattlucas 0
There still should be powder on north facing slopes. May have to look a bit harder but in Gifu I can still easily find good snow.
alferg 0
i dont know what you are all so worried about - jeez, if we got systems like this in aus, it'd be sick as f**k !! http://weather.unisys.com/mrf/9panel/mrf_500p_9panel_easia.html
Fattwins 0
Toque its like 20 degrees here in kyoto Ill give you a metal if you can find powder even on the north slopes. Temps are going above 5 degrees at 1500 feet that means even the shaded parts well get heavy. Im going to ride the pipe this weekend.
mattlucas 0
I could garantee that if I was to go skiing tomorrow I could find at least half a days worth or powder. But I'm not going skiing so it will just sit there.
Fattwins 0
Light dry powder take pics then cause hakuba will have nothing after todays temps. Maybe up very high and shaded but we are looking at warm winds that will blow into the shaded areas and warm it all up. They are calling for high avlanche danger this week due to the high temps. Big Feet 0
It is beautiful sunshine in Yamagata, but the temperatures are still below freezing on the mountain. I just hope it stays that way. Like the little man says, 'think positive'
MistaSparkle 0
I was thinking this was just a bit of a heat wave for a while... but I've stopped wearing a winter coat (in tokyo) and I'm beginning to wonder if this is actually an early spring... either way, this season feels short. miteyak 0
Winter will return next week... don:t know what you:re all worried about, we always have this early warm spell... How often have I loaded the car wearing a T-shirt before heading to slopes and powder...
Ocean11 0
A friend gave me 5 free tix to Plana down here - can I even be bothered to drive there...? I should prolly take a mountainboard too in case all the snow has just evaporated.

Davo 1
It'll puke snow next week as the temps lower in order to welcome me back to the snow. Since I have to be in town I'm happy for it to be warm. If I'm not mistaken it's been a pretty cold winter since the end of the year-it'll come back.
LARD 0
Here's hoping Davo!

RayInJapan 0
That damn jelly fish sure was getting a tan! I've been working nights and sleeping during the day for the last week, which has pretty much ruined any chance of snowboarding this weekend - but the days have been clear and warm - supposed to get even warmer tomorrow - if thats the case, I won't sulk, I'm taking the Harley out for a ride.
