Waxing questions

If you are a hard core jibber and spend most of your time on the rails, then go ahead and detune completely. If you still want to ride or have an edge for icy days, then after you detune, tape a few pennies to the bottom of your file and create a new edge that is angled away...that will give you an edge for the ice, but shouldn't catch as easily. Waxing questions
SirJibAlot replied to SomeSnowboarder's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I think i'll leave the p-tex repairs to the professionals. I like to wax my stick personally, I usually leave the wax on a little bit think to protect the base. I'm not trying to charge down the hill at 120kph and I have found that it doesn't make that much difference if you leave it on thicker (other than not having to wax as frequently). -SJA -
Do you lock up your gear?
SirJibAlot replied to torihada's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
It's ok, I look like a criminal anyway. I probably get more looks when I'm unlocking it - people probably think I'm ripping it off. -SJA -

Found this on another forum, made me laugh...anyone tried it? 180 SNOWMAN K, this may sound like a gay trick but its awesome to do, and looks gnarly on tape! so here it is... 1.Find an average jump where you can get at least head hight if you were standing beside the jump. 2. build a snowman about 3-5 feet away from the jump. 3.(you should be pretty confident with your 180`s to do this trick)then go off the jump do a 90 chop off the snowmans head, then you can either do the whole 180 or go back to your normal stance. P.S.Be sure not to compact the snowman to much or else your board wont -

Do you lock up your gear?
SirJibAlot replied to torihada's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I used to not lock up my board, but a buddy of mine had his horked in Cali. After that, I keep my stick locked up nice and tight whether i'm boarding in Cali, Japan, NZ, or New Hampshire. Nothing would ruin a day of boarding more than to come back with a stomach full of katsu and no board to ride on. -SJA -

I can't go boarding this weekend, so i'm saving my last live chicken for the weekend after next. If it doesn't dump by then, I will start looking for virgins (although, I usually do that after it snows....hmm....) -SJA -
I swear that kid was trying to pull a tail press! Nicely done Indosnm. The resorts in the states won't take the kids until they are poddy trained and don't cry when thier mah mah or dah dah leaves them. After that, they usually teach them front side lipslide with a 180 grab to fakie out, then it's on to day two....man those kids can learn quick! -SJA

Safety Gear
SirJibAlot replied to SirJibAlot's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I haven't met anyone whoe broke thier wrists, but my cousin broke his arm snowboarding. He wasn't doing anything special really - just fell the wrong way and buyah! Broken arm...ruined my day as I was his ride home and had to leave early to take him to the hospital. I think a broken wrist would suck more than a broken arm - so i'm going wrist guard this year... -SJA -
choosing your line?
SirJibAlot replied to WantToSki's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
The Japanese resorts on weekends tend to be very crowded, so it's best to find an area that is less crowded to practice picking your line and hitting it. If you are a rope ducker than you probably are more worried about hitting a tree than another person. If all else fails, find a good staircase with a few kinks in it and jib all day... -SJA -
