  1. I agree (though DiPoliza may protest). Shiga Kogen had a pretty wretched season actually 11/12 considering what was going on very close by. Even hotel owners up there say that (privately).
  2. Just got to this now. Friend of mine said that they used to have a place up near there, but sold up quite a number of years ago. Numbers quickly dried up apparently.
  3. Well there's tons of more places you don't just want to limit to them. Even in the same kind of area theres Madarao, there's Sugadaira. Then there's Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma over beyond Nozawa.
  4. Is that in the town area or between the town and the skijo at Kusatsu?
  5. Yeah a bit to the west by the looks, Kijimadaira shindo 5. Wonder if it will be classed as an aftershock or not.
  6. I was in a state of panic once when I cut it fine and only just realised I needed to get a stamp. Didn't know you could actually do it at the airport.
  7. Unfortunately, most Japanese ski resort areas are like that. Many people stay in their hotel, especially onsen places where it's usually room + 2 meals. Doesn't make for a lively town. Zao and Shiga Kogen are two major places that strike me as being particularly quiet on that front. A shame really.
  8. Cool. I call this next photo "Snowboarder blocking the way". But where is it?
  9. I think I need to stand up and potentially be hazukashii,..... I think it's my town. Taken perhaps from the now closed Madarao Toyota ski jo round the corner from Madarao Kogen. ?
  10. With all his slacking it would seem that DiGriz needs to clock in at least 3000% every day from now on. Shameful! I for one will definitely gambaru this afternon. Yosh... fai----to!
  11. Yeah, tons of shopping and cultural stuff in Nagano city and tons of ski resorts faily closeby. But it's hardly staying in a ski resort like you originally requested is it. It's far from being a Zermatt style ski town experience. Some people might be up for it though I suppose.
  12. Absolutely. I don't really do onsen much out of winter, or at least when it's hot. But in winter it's fantastic.
  13. Hmmm toughie. Almost looks like it could be from around here, but... I'm pretty sure it isn't.
  14. Did 40km last night, took about 2 hours. Felt pretty good about that.
