  1. maybe a day or two left at best, but had to send my new board back to get replaced so it will depend on how soon that comes back!!!
  2. spook - yeah I`ll second that one!! mine - bought a sector-9 longboard skatey a few years ago - longboardskateman was taken, so i threw an 8 in there...
  3. I was thinking the other day about a few mates back home who are into making their own toys (surfboards, sea kayaks etc) and wondered if there were many on this forum who had made (or tried to) make their own ski / snowboard gear.. Or if it is even possible?? If so - what did you make, and how did it compare with some of the standard 'off the shelf' equipment..
  4. Highly recommended, and I take it because work pay for it.. "Oops, that's a WHOLE other thread." Samurai - don't open that can of worms!! that one or anything on the dental industry over here...Yet to meet a Japanese doctor / dentist I've been happy with and I'm one of the most injury prone people I know.
  5. what an awesome line up!!! Japan`s got it`s fair share of good bands to come through, but i doubt if we`d ever get a line up like that thru here... Managed to catch JBT play on the top floor of Shibuya HMV a couple of years ago with only 20 other people!! Just walking down the street and saw posters advertising his new album at the time and that he was playing that day - free entry to the `concert` and no people!!
  6. yeah - I thought that as well, but this one is apparently supposed to be worn next to the skin... It's made by a kiwi company called Icebreaker, and made from 100% merino wool. My brother worked in an outdoor shop for a few years and couldnt stop raving about them, so got him to sort me out with a few tops.. http://www.icebreaker.com/site/icebreaker_man_bodyfit260_slalom_crewe.html (how do i copy just the image in??)
  7. polypro thermal pants and 100% wool thermal top as my first layer. Normally a quickdry t-shirt (or cotton) over the top of that and then a shell jacket. if im heading somewhere cold i'll put on another woolen top over the t-shirt. Thats kept me pretty toasty for the day even in some pretty cold conditions. Up top I now wear a skid-lid, but prior to that it was 2 beanies. the helmet is so much warmer than both those beanies....
  8. 8 for me so far - hoping to hit about 25 by seasons end.. 2 days Goryu / 47 1 day Kagura 2 days Sapporo Kokusai 3 days Hakkoda Planning to hit Nozawa, NASPA, and hopefully Hakkoda (again) before the seasons out..
  9. Can you read Japanese? check out the JR higaeri brochures at the vyuuu offices around JR stations. (from memory i think the brochure has a yellow cover) There's loads of one day packages in there which include transport there and back, lift tickets, and sometimes if you pay a bit extra you can also get lunch deals thrown in. Also if you're after cheapies - check out the homepages of some of the resorts, sometimes they've got a coupon for a free beer, or cheaper lift tickets..
  10. food poisoning - works a charm. one of those 24hrs and ur ready to go again excuses..err.. i mean illnesses.. worked for me a few times in the past - dodgy octopus is my tip.
  11. No worries Not taking snowshoes - my friend up there says you can rent them if need be. From what my friend tells me. it sounds like there'll be more than enough fresh on the main runs - or not too far off it. Will let you know how good it is / was when we get back
  12. Yellow snow - we're heading up there over the long weekend in Feb (can't wait). PM me if you're up for a few brews at all..
  13. Just had the cleaners come into the office to polish the leaves / wipe the dust off the plants in the office... Had a good laugh, but it also got me thinking about all those 'only in Japan' jobs - the elevator ladies, cleaners coming into the loos halfway thru the business (can only comment on the male loos here btw), the 'hai douzo' roadworkers with their orange batons that wave you thru the most obvious pathways around road construction areas.. What are some other 'only in Japan' jobs you've seen??
  14. any clues as to how long ago that was Montoya? I noticed a few pretty ancient looking pictures on the wall at wadagoya on sunday that made me wonder how long it`s been there...
  15. I remember reading in Dean Jones 'One day magic' years ago, that their targets for one dayers in his day were 15 overs - 50 runs, 25 over - 100 runs and provided wickets in hand, they'd go on to hope to get around 250 +....Amazing how far its come.. Reducing the size of the ground with the introduction of ropes would have helped the big totals im sure too... http://www.cricbuzz.com/ is an Indian website if you want to get a different take on games as well.
  16. ABC block the streaming somehow but you can get around it by using this link http://www.waca.com.au/events/events-audiostream.asp good to see the kiwis put up a bit of a fight last night. Now for those hapless poms....
  17. Anyone tried the tim tam slam? From wikipedia!! Prepare a cup of tea (or other hot or cold drink) Remove the Tim Tam from the packet Bite a small section off two diagonally opposite corners Dip one corner into the drink Suck on the other corner, which will mix the drink with little pieces of the biscuit When the Tim Tam begins to fall apart in your hand, eat the whole biscuit Obtain another Tim Tam from the packet and return to step 2 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Tam_Slam Awesomely good, but can get a little messy if you're not quick enough!!
  18. Goodluck with the nampa Hope she sends that email on....
  19. Sorry change of plans Very last minute but heading up to Hakuba tonight....
  20. Probably heading up on Sunday for a day trip...

  22. only in Japanese - but http://www.mcdonalds.co.jp/whatsnew/release/20070116/ 3800 McDonalds outlets in Japan!!!
  23. From Gaishoku Nippo 18th Jan Japan McDonald’s launched ‘Mega Mac on 12th and sold 3.32 million units of this particular product in four days. This is nearly double their expected sales. (rough calculations = about 150 TONNES of 'beef' that have been sold in this burger alone - in only 4 days..)
  24. Managed to break one resolution already. My resolution of no chocolate lasted all of 15 days. Damm lindt chocolate and it's chocolate goodness... Anyone else broken theirs yet? what about the quickest time it's taken you to break a resolution?
