  3. I use an electric beard trimmer, but I have it set on the stubble setting. I just hate being clean shaven, makes me face look rubbery I am very carefull shaving nowadays, ever since I tried using that pencil sharpener
  4. Right my pocket PC plug says 100-240V input 50-60hrz So I guess that is ok without using a transformer I cant find any info for the shaver, but it doesnt actually allow you to use it from mains anyway, so hopefully it should still charge. I think that is me sorted, thanks for the help
  5. It seems both the US and Japan use either two prongs or three prongs in different areas. The third prong being an earth it serves as extra protection. I found this product on amazon UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000TI46S/qid%3D1133870712/203-5583997-9788734 It states that the plug can handle 240-110V but doesnt work as a transformer. The way I look at it, I think this would serve my purpose. If I was using something like a hairdryer, with this plug I believe it would only work at half the power it was designed to. This product states that it works as a c
  6. Yeah I think I will have to get a UK-US plug/transformer. http://users.pandora.be/worldstandards/electricity.htm#sinewave According to this site though, there may be difficulties using US plugs in Japan because the US plugs have one prong slightly larger than the Japanese. I think that buying a UK-US transformer before I go will be enough, as it is undoubtably quite easy to buy an adapter from US-Japan rather than UK-Japan. Especially as this doesn't require and voltage conversion.
  7. I'm planning on (or am hoping to) take a few British electirical appliances to Japan this year. Mainly just chargers for my shaver, and my pocket PC. How difficult is it to convert from British plugs and voltages 230V to Japanese plugs and voltages 110V? Any Brits know of a product I can get before I go out? I've found Japan-UK adapters online but no UK-Japan adapters. I don't really want to start my holiday literally with a BANG! and it will be a bummer if I can't take my stuff out with me. Edit: Got me phase and triple phase voltages confused
  8. I fully expect this question has been asked before but i've done a search and havent found an answer for this specific question and I just want to clarify: Can you buy season passes upon arrival in Hakuba? The reason I ask is despite there being available via the website, I would feel much more comfortable having a look around the area and the different resorts before I puchase one. I've not been boarding in Japan before, and i've never been for a period long enough to bother with a season pass and as 60,000 yen odd is alot of my budget I would rather get the lay of the land before m

  10. I have a habit of occasionally venting my frustration on inanimate objects. Usually my gloves, hat or patches of snow. But you will sometimes hear me hurling abuse at my board as well. But what exactly I call my board probably cant be printed here.
  11. Only been on an indoor slope so far. The Tamworth snowdome in UK, it's a bleeding joke though really. Some large patches are just ice, they really need to improve the condition of the snow (what snow there is). Had a funny incident at the foot of the rope pull, a young lad ski'ing fell over trying to go up and got a bit mardy, kicked his ski's off, stomped off and left them there and asked me to move them for him! I just caught one on the edge of me board and took it about half way up the slope for him. He didn't appreciate it though
  12. If women could get one incorperated into their breast implants all my dreams would have come true. You could have lager one breast, and bitter the other. Quick, how do you patent an idea?
  13. I've got a pocket pc so I was also wondering if their are any wireless hotspots in the Hakuba area. Starbucks normally provide them in the UK, not sure if you have to register and pay though. I think making laptops wireless capable is relatively easy. These links might help: http://mobileoffice.about.com/cs/laptops/tp/laptopcards.htm

  15. Unlucky Jane, about 4 months ago somebody drove straight into the side of me in similarly unbelievable fashion. He pulled out of a side road straight into me , there was nothing blocking his view and yet he chose the very instant that I was passing infront of him to pull off. I parked up and was all ready to have a shout when the bloke got out of his car. Turned out he was an OAP (old age pensioner) of about 80 who was unable to talk. I can only guess how he lost his ability to speak but all he could do was write things down on a pad and pen. The other iritating thing was that h
  16. Usually I have a typical British family Christmas at home. Wake up about 9 and have the first of many drinks of the day, usually something like ginger wine or muld wine. Open the presents, before having a minutes silence for all the tree's that have sacrificed themselves so that we can have warapping paper Then its more booze untill lunch (throughout the morning various relatives venture into the kitchen to see if how the cooking is going, before running back out after being threatened with a spatula by my mother). Turkey lunch with all the trimmings, washed down nicely with lager. Then we
  17. Name calling was pretty common at my school and people definately hung around in their own groups, but actual bullying where groups or individuals focused it all on one person were pretty rare. When you have got so many people from varying backgrounds forced into a single institution like a school, you are undoubtably going to get at least one or two individuals who like to be on there own and fall into the 'loner' bracket. Unfortunately a 'loner' may sometimes feel compelled to stick to themself and should at any point they attempt to make friends, they will find it incredibly difficult
