  1. I was impressed with that spoiler too. Nice pics T-boy and Okemo.
  2. Here's my experience: Debit or cash cards work in Post Office ATMs if they have the cirrus or maestro symbol on the back. Not 24/7 Credit cards work in international credit card ATMs if you can find one. Outside the airports I've only ever found one was at Machida in Tokyo. Some machines are 24/7. You can get a cash advance with any credit card in any bank that has a foreign exchange counter (not all banks). Takes ages and you need your passport. Not 24/7. You can usually use your credit card at merchants although for some reason sometimes a card will just not work at a
  3. Isn't everything subjective anyway? Even some kind of "official ranking" would be done by subjective people who set criteria to achive their purpose.
  4. You'll have to use that pic on the birth announcement cards
  5. But Thursday is more popular - he's got 4 stars
  6. I agree with Warhawk. Going out just to cook your skin in the sun is stupid but so are skin whitening creams and avoiding the sun completely. I think really white people look unhealthy as I just imagine that they are always indoors and never do any sport. I know that's not true and is just a sterotype. I guess it comes from when I was in school when it was always the surfers who were tanned. A tan aqcuired through an active outdoor lifestyle had got to be healthier than staying indoors, not exercising and covering yourself in bleaching cream. At the end of the day everything in
  7. Haven't been there but for any mountain it will depend what network you are on. Generally NTT-docomo has better coverage outside the cities. Australian phones won't work. You will have to rent either online (just search Japan phone rental) or at the airport.
  8. I want my fifth star back... or at the very least to know who made me lose it.
  9. One of my best friends from school was on a BR train coming back from uni and the train in front of her had hit a cow. Loud speakers announced not to look out of the window, which of course everyone did. Blood and guts everywhere. She was a vegetarian and couldn't even walk past the meat counter in the supermarket. She didn't make it to the toilet and threw up in the train carriage.
  10. I can't imagine what more could be added to the story to have it make sense. Who cares if it was an accident or not, the boy is dead and you don't point a loaded gun at someone you are not prepared to kill. (Unless perhaps they were being attacked by someone else and you were trying to get the other guy?)
  11. Someone doesn't like this thread. It's only got 4 stars now. I've only posted in in about three times but I gave it a 5 anyway. Let's rating Jeanie fans.
  12. Quick question about getting to the snow monkeys. I'm planning on taking my mum and mini me Tarzan (AKA Cheetah, courtesy of Tsondaboy) up to see them early March. I can put Cheetah in the carrier but not sure how my mum will find it. What is the 30 min walk like? I mean is it steep and icy or pretty easy to walk? Cheers.

  14. Found out recently that the military bases do ski & board rental with no size issues but you need to find a military friend to get them for you. Krusty on here was military but haven't seen him post this year.
  15. He loves it but is still playing the 50 preinstalled kids songs (of the "If you're happy and you know it" or "The wheels on the bus" variety) . I will have to get organised and put some other stuff on too this month.
  16. ATM's are around but are not usually 24/7. Personally I would just bring the cash from Australia.
  17. You can't programme any of the navi-girls I've used unless the handbrake is on but you can still cancel routes which involves a few buttons. I tend to mainly listen to her and just glance to confirm. When I drive with a map I'm probably paying less attention to other road users than with navi girl.
  18. True. I've had exactly the same thing happen!
  19. I never drive anywhere without my Mapple road atlas. Occasionally Navi-girl has helped me find out where I am on the map so I can figure out my own route. In the pre-navi days, when I got really lost I would just ask one of the friendly seven eleven boys to find their shop on my map!
  20. My mum is coming over in March and we are going. I'll be taking an SJ sign and will let you know when we are there so you can spot us on the webcam! Don't post here but if anyone has stayed at any mum-friendly ryokans with nice family onsens (not just the tiny indoor bath) could you PM me? I really want her to have the onsen experience with all the snow outside but being British and 60 she's not too keen on getting naked with strangers!
