  1. I saw a couple of new ice tyre CM's a couple of weeks ago, very early. Not only that but heaters have been on sale locally for at least 3 weeks . Bring it on!!
  2. I was just reading this thread when I came to thinking about the millions of dollars companies pay for advertising. I am not sure how much it costs to have your logo placed in movies, on billboards, TV shows, magazines probably a fair sum. But consumers have to pay to wear the company logo across the chest. I think I might offer my chest as advertising space!
  3. There is a couple of small pics here Ashahidake Ropeway
  4. Quote: Working for a living is a waste of a life. Couldn't agree more with this! Quote: "The more you own the more it owns you" I don't know who's quote this is but I always thought it had a lot of relevance for this day and age! So I guess the real estate agent has to work hard to maintain his status symbol/BMW.
  5. Damn, nice pics. Makin me homesick!! Good to hear things are good in Tassie!
  6. My wife doesn't think that, she actually tell me sometimes she doesn't listen Unfortunately I live near a few friendly yankis so my Japanese is unfortunately boarding on unpleasant (maybe I should be a chimpira). フォォォォ!!!
  7. What happened to the good old days where you would just syphon petrol from someone elses car. Sneeking around at night with a jerrycan, some hose and a pack of gum!!
  8. I try not to listen to my wife My daughter is two and at the moment she speaks mostly Japanese with a little English mixed in. Although she understands english unless we constantly communicate in English at home I don't think she will be bilingual. I think Gamera has a valid point of not only learning but having the opportunity to use another language. After reading some of the posts above I have been trying to speak more english at home so she becomes more familiar with the language but I won't push her to learn it, I am more interested in her happiness and wellbeing at the moment (a
  9. Quote: I have a modelling contract for some weeks in West Africa,Nigeria As soon as I saw this I became suspicious, go with Tsonda's suggestion and ask for cash up front. Try and scam them, check here for tips!
  10. Why not look here it has plenty of information and reviews from people who have actually been to the resort. I know it isn't a book magazine but it is quite informative.
  11. I enjoy listening to Triple J but I don't think that is what you would be looking for Ocean11. Sometimes I scan the itunes radio stations but am yet to find anything to concentrate on ( I think I am a compulsive channel surfer).
  12. I used friends and family, very cheap and efficient also they respected our stuff!!
  13. Quote: Yamakashi wrote: like Hokkaido where nobody really lives anyways Oiii!! Screw you buddy!! Be careful what you wish for!!
  14. Gamera, "Check this box to remain logged in after your browser session ends" , I believe this means that if you check this box- when you close your browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla etc) you won't have to log in again when you come back at a later time, so it remembers you and you don't have to type in your details again.
  15. Tattoos are a beautiful thing!! Although I have seen some stupid tattoos. I haven't had any problems going into onsens (touch wood), I think it all depends on attitude and I don't exactly look like yakuza (although they offered me work, that's another story). Back to the waves..... PS I think discoballs are stupid!!
  16. Oyuki Kigan, I saw a heap of Rude Bones CDs etc on Yahoo Auctions the other week all were ¥1000 or under. There seems to be a gold mine of rare and hard to find punk here. It is like Xmas some days!!
  17. Seek and ye shall find. You can find some decent gear if you look around. I found some awesome stuff in Australia, my lounge room was full of funky unwanted furniture that was destined for landfill. One persons junk is another mans treasure so they say!!
  18. While we are at it, how about Hokkaido peeps? Got a lonely feelin up here I am in Kamiiso (Hakodate).
  19. I bet you are grungy!! At least Rahul is consistent, consistently wrong that is!!
  20. Those figures are pretty impressive (and a little suspicious), If I am correct that would be more than Hakodate's population!
  21. Mr Wiggles, Yokotsu as far as I am aware is always closing and opening. The first or second year I was here it was closed then re-opened, but haven't heard any news locally about it closing but it is possible I have a feeling it is connected to Rusutsu Resort (Kamori Group?). They get some awesome snow up there but the road up is a nightmare, very narrow and slippery. It isn't the biggest place but most consistent coverage and is quite popular with the locals. The golf course has an awesome view though, a little on the step side!
  22. Thanks for the info Tsonda, might have to take advantage of that! Does it work the other way Hakodate to Haneda? Sometimes they get funny about that!!
  23. I agree with Davo, I learnt on intermediate courses and did I learn quick!! I will admit it was painful but I think it sped up the learning process (adding an element of survival instinct generally improves my willingness to learn). Kintaro's advice about using the gondala is good to get started but hey grab the bull by the horns!! Good Luck and most of all enjoy yourself. As an afterthought maybe try some lessons, sometimes I wish I did!!
  24. Quote: "I don't treat my dog like that," said 47-year-old Daniel Edwards, pointing at the woman in the wheelchair. "You can do everything for other countries but you can't do nothing for your own people. You can go overseas with the military but you can't get them down here." I think this quote is very appropriate. I believe this event will lead to a few changes, well we can only hope. I have good friends from New Orleans who always had some very interesting stories to tell about their home town. From what I have heard, Plucky is right in saying it is not your typical American town.
  25. I think I would skip the meal as it would be wasteful!! However I would definetely go with Yamakashi's suggestion !!
