  2. I think there is an issue….can't remember exactly but I don't think they allow it. Also, I know that there are problems getting them re-filled in Japan if you bought them outside the country, someone was on last year asking a similar question and I'm not sure if we ever found out a place that can fill them up

  12. You can also buy a sim card or a rental phone at Narita. If you can get wifi and you have Line/Viber/WhatsApp or similar you can call other users back home for free.....same with FaceTime....Skype is free to other Skype or incredibly cheap (2¥ a minute or something ridiculous) to landlines....but you need WiFi
  13. The annoying thing is, that if you check Japanese customs website (at least the last time I checked), it says that ski/snow sports gear is exempt from customs tariffs. This is the website http://www.customs.go.jp/english/tariff/2014_4/data/e_95.htm scroll down to skis and others…..it says FREE
  14. Big Al…….you'd better watch out, as an immigrant to Australia (and one from Scotland to boot….where apparently we are especially heinous in this crime), if you don't know the exact meaning of "is censed and apologise issue", you most probably are being highly disrespectful to the anscetors of Adam Goodes and all native peoples……..you should be is censed and apologise issue with great haste!!!
  15. I always figured that Hokkaido people would be hardier to the cold, but they complain about it all the time……and now that its officially autumn, apparently if you go out with anything less than a thick coat, long trousers, hat and a scarf then you are crazy! The max temperature was still 14 degrees today!! It was extremely nice cycling home from work. Gorgeous afternoon weather, beautiful views over the mountains that are now more gold and orange than green…..it wasn't proper cold!
  16. Sometimes DHL have billed me later, after I've already received the product......that bill gets put in the bin
  17. You sure you're not in Yamanashi (aka, the epicentre of the coming ice age)? Could be that Yamanashi is now on the other island of Japan near to Asahikawa, the mountaintops got a good sprinkling of snow yesterday.......the Ice age Is coming!
  18. It's gorgeous in Sapporo today.....deep blue sky, not a cloud in sight and super sunny.....but it's quite cold. The cycle to work was the coldest it's been but the colours on the mountains are getting pretty damn nice.
