I went to Zao this summer. Nice place it is and a fair bit to do. We had a really relaxing few days. It reminded me a bit of Nozawa in a few ways - small village, the onsen and mountain. Going to go back this winter.

I get on well with my mum but not particularly with my dad unfortunately... we never have really got on well for some reason and thats not going to change.

I have fairly dark hair. But here in Japan people sometimes call me blonde. I really do not get that, it never fails to confuse me.

I just watched a documentary on the Trident submarines last night. Amazing things they are. The thought of being in one underwater for more than a few minutes makes me shudder, but 3 months without surfacing... I don't know how those guys do it. Anyone here ever been on one?

Some of those duty free places are really awful. I wouldn't even go in them if I'm looking to buy. I prefer the shops around Shinjuku myself, armed with the lowest price I can find on the internet for added pressure.
