  1. I love dogs! I have a pooch here in Japan! A black lab, she cant live with us as we live in a mansion, but she lives at my inlaws which is 5 mins away. Anyone else lucky enough to have a dog in Japan or back home? what kind of dogs do you like? I like Labs, Boxers, shepards and setters, I would like to get an Irish Setter someday. Having a dog like everything else is TAKAI! in Japan, the local vet just stung me today for 20000yen! for a couple of visits, some medicine and an injection!!!
  2. Some people said I look like DDP Diamond Dallas Page the wrestler when he had short hair...but who knows... english students who are notoriously visually challenged have thrown up everything from Beckham to Ian Thorpe so go figure

  5. Nice one! Must have been one of those grabia girls!
  6. Also my friend had a school teacher whose name was Peter Nister.....P Nister Another friends brother was "Shaun Lamb". My Dad went to school with a dude with hypenated family name "Ransbotton-Isherwood". This was in a farming town and Ransbotton sounds very close to "Rams Bottom" - "sheeps arse" which bore the poor chap the brunt of many jokes

  8. Another unfortunate family name is "Grogan" sounds normal enough but in NZ at least grogan is slang, for "chocolate log" "turd" "poo" or whatever you feel inclined to name it

  10. I was amazed today when I had the pleasure to visit a new large luxurious Japanese house. what amazed me was the Kitchen! it was so tiny! similar to an apartment bldg kitchen. The rest of the house was huge! massive open plan with a mix of modern western and traditional Japanese styling. What gives? does anyone have any theories to why the locals here dont go for big kitchens even when there is the space and money for one? I recently read a "time" article that said the recent western trend was for large kitchen that the rest of the house revolved around, and it got me thinking about Kit

  12. 250!!!!wow thats fast in a tunnel!!!a few years ago my dad attended a fatal bike accident outside of Christchurch. A dude ( married with kids) had just bought a 1000cc Kawazaki roadbike and was winding her out on a straight empty country road. They think he doing 260-280kph when a car went through an intersection, never seeing him.... he T boned the car flew 20 metre through the air and hit a concrete powerpole.....at 260kph........he completely removed all the concrete from the pole at the impact point, leaving only reinforcing and bent the pole too. His head was found intact in its helmet
  13. Yeah this story was huge news in the States on Tuesday. Seems his biggest mistake was going on a solo canyoning mission without leaving a intention list with anyone. No one knew where he was. as for yanking the arm Ocean it was trapped under a 400+ kg boulder that wasnt going to budge, I would guess his shoulder or elbow would dislocate first and then he would be in an even bigger world of.....poo than what he was already in

I am not a fan of common names John, David (sorry Davo) Michael, Robert, Anna Emma, Rebecca, Rachel etc. They are good names but too common and not unique enough for example there were 3 Annas in my class once at school. The teacher would call out Anna and all three would turn around. I have 2 friends called Hamish Wilson gets confusing. I like regular names but ones that arent so common. Ken? its ok would nt rave about it, my nephews name is Kenshin so i couldnt go Ken even if I wanted. Recently in the UK for 3
  15. I get delayed hangovers....wake up bouncing off the walls but degrade in condition gradually through the day until I am a write off. I remember well my 20th birthday. I was in westport NZ on a University Geology field trip. I had consumed about 4-5 jugs of beer ( 1jug = 1 litre)and feeling pretty good about things when my "friends" lined up 20 yes 20 shots of whiskey on the bar...... I made it back to the field station crashed out and woke up with the vigour and energy of Richard Simmons. BUT during the day touring in vans looking at various sites of geologoical interest, I degraded and
