I guess it comes down to personal taste. I liked the way Shogun was done. With the other stuff, I just kinda roll my eyes and have to force myself to overlook the fact that everyone is speaking english...

Been playing a ton of SSX 3 for Xbox lately. Damn that game is the best snowboarding game I've ever played. Anyone else checked it out, or have another favorite?

yea... last samurai previews look great, but theres one thing im afraid might steamroll any credibility it might have. It seemed like all the main japanese characters were speaking english in the preview. I HATE when hollywood dumbs down movies for lowest-common-denominator american audiences (e.g. no subtitles, and everyone speaks english). ("too much readin' in this movie! If I wanted to read, Id go to the library!")

Ocean:　nice NY taxi story. I've been in NY cabs that have been like death rides. It's not fun when someone gets out of their car to fight your cabbie who just cut them off, either. Seinfeld talked about this in one of his standup acts, but most new yorkers passively watch the mayhem believing they are safe and secure behind the invincible plexiglass barrier. Japanese taxis, just like every other muthagrabbin thing in this country, are absurdly expensive.

I had a really weird occurance regarding staring and another whitey... I was sitting at a restaurant at one of those "community tables" with my gf, and this american dude, and some japanese chick (both looking around my age) roll up and sit right across from us. So the dude notices me at first and then makes every possible effort not to make any eye contact or even look in my direction. So I continue to enjoy my meal and listen to this asshat carry on about how japanese people, and customs are stupid to his japanese girlfriend. I've got a Skyperfect, and it's got a pretty nice lineup. I watch BBC&CNN news, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Star Movie channels (sometimes have good stuff), and sometimes i'll check out Mtv although they usually just play crap japanese r&b and hiphop. There's definitely value in watching local Japanese tv, but it's also nice to be able to rest the mind from japanese at the end of the day, and just zone out watching english tv...

The season of oden, the chinese bun rack, and Booooooots has begun.
