Whats the SBS? the british SAS stands for the ..mind blank..but I knew before I started typing this (ill edit this post when my mind clears), It also stands for Scott adventure sports and New Zealand's special forces also call themselves the SAS. Being a man of leasure I only worked for the Niseko based one.

Bad news on the Niseko night life front - your best bet might be to try your luck in the Gondola, but be careful as all the girls look pretty good when they are wearing a hat, goggles etc.. my friend calls this phenomonom mountain sheik.

My post about the picture asked questions about when it was taken etc.. if I read the thread before I replied I would have known the answer. There is no bigger crime than posting a reply before reading the whole thread so...yea Then I discovered that you can edit your own posts and got rid of all the evidence. And yea I worked for the SAS, I was working at the dog sled, ski instructing and driving snow mobiles while looking for terrorists.

Markie, have you ever been "snow rafting" at either Rusutsu or Hanazono?

Its a house rented by one of the Rafting/ski-snowboarding instructing companies (SAS) for staff to live in. It was pretty cheap too. but a long walk home from the pub.

I like to board every now and then so when people insinuate that snowboarding is in some way better than skiing, I can smile inwardly knowing I am better at snowboarding than they are and its their sport.

Skiing on one ski is an exercise to make you better at skiing all round not a new style. I do it sometimes (even though I fell like a dick when I am) as it forces me to abandon some bad habits and makes me ski way better from then on.

Its probly better if it happens for 2 days so that everyone is not scared for life by the horrific first day.

Geto was sick, Only the two gondolas were going but there was plenty of fairly light freshies to be had for most of the day. (all day if you were determined) According to people who skied there last year there was an average saturday crowed there. There are no tables or rails up yet but im not complaning yet.

once your set up with gear and a season pass you can get by with gas and onageri money, and just the onageri if you can scab a ride.

I would say that you NEED the passport. there is so much exploring to be done on the hanazono side not to mention the run from the summet down to hanazono. - you can still do that without a pass though as i done it once and by the time i got down there the lifts had stopped (no night skiing at hanazono) the last bus had also left so we had to walk a long way then hitch bach to Hirafu.

if there is not much snow, and there are no tables or anything around and the snow is too hard to make a jump and there is nothing elece to do bumps can be entertaining (purpose built ones that is)
