  1. But surely in a rural area like yours you wouldn't need to be quite as protective? Or are the country towns as bad as the big bad cities?
  2. I finally saw my very first episode of it last week. It had some funny moments and some silly/stupid ones, but then I'm not a major sitcom fan anyway. However I think it's great that the women don't look like models. I get so sick of movies/TV/whatever where the lead (ie sexy or sexual) women always have to look stunning and have to look like they're under 35. If men are disappointed that the women don't look like what they call babes, take a moment and look at how conditioned we have become if we believe that lead actresses being sexual must be babes, or else we don't even want to watch
  3. Wow, my "wan*er" word got automatically sensored to a "****er" by SJ's software. I didn't know that was such a strong word!
  4. Yes, that's a good point, Antonio. Actually I'd feel more comfortable with a martial arts jo than a baseball bat. I did about a year's worth of aikido a long time ago and we did both (wooden) sword and jo work, though of course I'd be no expert. It's been a strange week. I know some of you guys will laugh at this (I have to admit, I laugh at it myself) - but a few nites ago I was walking to the station down the usual dark street and I was gotten by a ride-by (on push-bike) tit-touch. I was carrying an umbrella in the hand on the side he got me. Young tall dude, I saw him riding past m
  5. My website appears to be down right now. Can't get the server's page up either.
  6. Oh, also, remember that you want an English model - ie - export model, or else you'll wind up with NTSC and all the menus etc in Japanese. I assume you're wanting a PAL camera, being from Oz.... Bic may not have an international model of the camera you want, I think they do have some international/English cameras, but if not, you may be able to order it when at the Sapporo shop and they can send it up from Tokyo. Actually, PAL may be a little more difficult to get from Bic, not sure, never tried so I can't verify that. I know that Laox carry PAL (and NTSC) export models, and so must
  7. I'm fairly certain that video cameras will be cheaper in Japan than Oz. Electronic equipment in Oz is ridiculously expensive due to all the tariffs they slap on them. In my limited knowledge of Sapporo, I'd agree that Bic Camera (right near the main station) would be the cheapest buy. You can get a free point card when you buy, and that will give you points towards your next purchase (DV tapes, perhaps). DV tapes a way cheaper in Japan than Oz. Buy the camera first. Then buy anything else in a separate purchase, then you'll be allowed to use the points. Depending on the item you
  8. I've found a place to upload a couple of my songs, though I think you can only stream from here. If you want to download let me know and I'll try and sort something else out. Go here.
  9. Hey, thanks for the kind words everyone. Appreciated. I'm feeling okay, better than I was, still a little shaken up of course. Probably take a wee while to get over but I think I'll sleep better tonite. Makes me realise how vulnerable you can be when you're a woman living alone. Now I understand what it must be like to be a woman living in a large american city. (as well as other western cities also). I sure took my time going all the way inside my apartment tonite when I got home after the dark, making sure no-one was in there! But I think that degree of caution will wear off before t
  10. Last nite there was a knock at my door. (I'm on ground floor level, in a apartment building). People often knock and try and sell things, even at odd hours. I took a look thru the peephole and heard what sounded like someone walking off. They didn't wait long, I thought. Went back into the other room back to the computer. Then, a short time later, another knock. Hmmm... maybe the guy upstairs? I go back and look out the peephole and see what appears to be a young Japanese dude in white T-shirt and kinda spiky black hair, with one of those canvas shoulder bags on a shoulder. doesn't look
  11. There's one on the B1 level of Mitsukoshi in Shinjuku (the one on Shinjuku Dori on the way to 3-chome, near the old Kinokuniya book shop and Ishibashi Music. I tried a small one. No way I could deal with one of those giant things. I think I'd be sick. The small ones are great.
  12. about 55 mins walk from Ikebukuro station. (Itabashi-ku).
  13. hairiest brush with death that I have ever experienced. If only I had known that Gavin was loaded and high as a kite.
  14. Or at least, that's what I thought it was. By this time I couldn't decide whether to make a dash for it while I still had a chance or stay and find out what that CD really was.
  15. Then suddenly it all came back to me in a flash of icy terror - she was no ordinary woman....
  16. Did anyone read the Carlos Casteneda books? The Teachings of Don Juan, etc.... Descriptions of using datura and peyote in there.
  17. What do you guys think about chemtrails? I just heard about this recently.

That was one of the clinchers that got me choosing a Powerbook vs iBook. Same issue. Which iMac? One of those nice flat panel lamp models? I also relish being able to shove windows out of the way. When working in a music app it's nice to see the whole track nicely stretched out with the waveforms easily visible to the naked eye.
  19. It shouldn't do that. contact your provider.
  20. Hi Ocean, I guess two monitors depends on your needs. It's a godsend for music recording/sequencing apps, and graphic apps. I'm not a heavy duty graphics user but when using a music program screen space gets really important. You can even open one window over the two monitors, which is heaven in a long song, and totally cool for other things. But it's also helpful if you like to have lots of windows open at once (in any app) and want to shove a few aside while working on something else. For graphic apps you tend to put the tools on one screen and the page you're working on on t
  21. It's a real eye opener. I wish I'd read it years ago.
  22. The Millionaire Next Door. Very interesting read.
  23. Consider getting a pair of 15" monitors. Depending on what your needs are of course. I'm hooked on dual monitors - and I'd love to one day afford trading in my trusty HP 20" RGA for a flat screen. Mogs if you do meet that woman and she's gay (or bi) send her my way - with the Apple cinema display monitor, of course.
