  1. At the risk of giving away my surname, and of in a round about way, bragging, have a look at this my fellow australians: http://www.austsnowsports.com.au/boarding/010705.htm number 2 in mens big air is my little brother. Anyone know him?

  3. Six years in Sydney, a city of 4 million people: - had a gun pointed at me 3 times, - bashed up once, - attacked 4 times (either ran or defended myself) - car broken into twice - sports bike stolen - house burgled, - every apartment in the block of ten I lived in burgled within one week, - girlfriend robbed at knife point in daylight on a busy road - crazy bastards swinging baseball bats chased me in their car - blood splatters on my door from a dying man who was beaten up - clothes, wallets and phones stolen when surfing - watched a man literally hack to death anoth
  4. Where I come from crime SEEMS to be concentrated in areas inhabited by certain people. Generally, this appears to be: 1. Immature bastards with no respect for the environment or fellow citizens. These people are just as likely to smash a car window for a stereo as they are to bash someone in a train station for fun. They are usually young, male and alcohol is usually involved. These people also like random acts of vandalism. My GUT FEELING (nothing more) tells me that western countries have a lot of these people. I cant stand these pricks. 2. Indigenous people that are poor and
  5. powwwers - most australian slang requires a strong grasp on swearing.
  6. http://www.medicalpost.com/mdlink/english/members/medpost/data/3409/32.HTM anyone tried? For some reason I cant get to their web site (gone out of business?).
  7. .... I should add that I see many things in Japan that seem strange to me, obviously because I am not Japanese. I went to Code nightclub in Shinjuku on the weekend and that seemed very strange, even considering the very heavy nightclub history that I have from Australia (Sydney). Both myself and my girlfriend more than suprised at the experience.
  8. Sorry, I didnt mean to offend. Perhaps I shouldnt have been so blunt in my statement. There are just some things in Japan that I just find not enjoyable. Karaoke is one. Having said that there are plenty of Australian social events that I find equally unappealing. I have seen karaoke a few times, I find that the booth variety is a very strange concept. Ocean - stop sniffing that brain melting, heart starting liquid.
  9. Karaoke - worst social activity in the world. It is a pathetic joke.
  10. I signed up for GOL before I left Oz. Everything went through but the account wasnt activates until I provided an address in Japan. For me it was about the equiv. of aud30 best to check if they have a dial up connection in the area that you want to go.
  11. hey, you know the slang "wanna", thats a pretty good sign that english is coming naturally. Keep up the good work. Here's some more slang for you: Person: "great snow isn't it" Echineko: "too right mate, bloody awesome".
  12. I recal ski resorts had a very particular smell. When ever I would smell it in the past I got an excited buzz inside me. Been over 10 years since I have been up high, does the smell still exist? I recall it was a combo. of hot ski wax, the waft from hotel drying rooms, the crisp mountain air and some other things that I cant nail down. On the topic of memories, I scored my first sexual romp with a girl in the snow. It was in a deisel generator shed. Very noisy (the generator that is). Great way to lose the big V.
  13. so retail therapy is the masterbation of snowsports - what you do when the real thing isnt at hand. I am buying goggles this weekend. Do you really hate summer or do you have summer activities? My younger brother goes from Canada snow to Australian snow. Has been doing it for years now. I doubt he has seen a summer for 5 years.
  14. how do you guys cope? I am excited as this is the first time I have lived in a land of snow, but for all you 'regulars'... this must be killing you. Is that the reason for so many off-beat threads on this site?
  15. got to give him credit. The most pointless thread imaginable has managed to garner 8 responses thus far.
  16. I am careful where I put my email addy. In Japan I use OCN and dont get much problems (but I am about to switch to Asahi-net for other reasons). I DO however have a GOL Japan email account and that is just spam mania. Dont use it anymore. Other than that I get about 50 emails a day at work. They are all from company employees and are 'work' related, but most are crap. They are the most annoying type of junk mail as I cant just delete them, I have to read them and respond!
  17. Thanks Ocean, cant hire a car as I didnt arrange an international drivers license before I left home. I will only be there for a day, so I am not sure how I will go about it. I am tempted to leave it until a weekend where I can go both sat and sun. cheers
  18. saw a movie years and years ago called "The Woman in Black". It scared the piss out of me. Don't think it would rate very high anymore on the scare-o-meter.
  19. broke a tooth trying to open an old style twist top stubbie with my mouth
