  1. Yes, 'tis I, tho I have always been based in ADL. If you are going to Japan, you will miss SIC Actually, just worked it out, you will be in PB for July wont you? Will you still be there on July 26? [This message has been edited by Raury (edited 30 May 2002).]
  2. Four weddings and a funeral for feel good stuff Ferris Buelleres Day Off for 80's angst MI with Tom Cruise for spy stuff Sneakers and Hackers for IT nerdy stuff Romeo and Juliet (Baz Luhrmann version)
  3. Hey snowhaus, That's pretty amazing that we have similar tatts for the same reason. Haven't seen you round ski.com recently. Still doing the bridge climbs?
  4. I'm having one of those months. First snowfall in AU was on the 17th, so I've been dreaming since then

  6. I don't have any as pets, but in the area surrounding my workshop, which is in a rural area, we get them all the time. It is really nice having a break in summer and watching these little guys wander all over the piles of bricks and stuff outside. They tend not to come out in winter unless it is a sunny day, then they bask in the sun. I also have one that hides in my letter-box at my house. 7. The gecko is a talisman. I am into indoor rock-climbing. It is a wonderful sport. Develops stamina, upper-body strength, elasticity/stretch. Gecko's have three ways of attaching themselves to a surface: 1) with their fingers like we humans do, 2) with suctions cups that they form with all the little hairs on their hands 3) electrostatic cling, again with all the little hairs on their hands So I got the tattoo as a talisman so that I have a link with the ability of the gecko - maybe kinda freaky sounding, but thats the story.
  8. I think I used to mix up an extended version of that song. The best one to do an extended mix of was the 12" of Blue Monday. Go 2/3rd of the way through the A side, then do the middle bit of the B Side then the last 2/3rd of hte A side. I think it went for about 10 minutes if you wanted to
  9. Big fan of the 80's blitz/new romantic era, as that is when I was DJ'ing. So I totally love Soft Cell version of Tainted Love. Big fan now of Drum'n'bass/Jungle and trance, especially when on the dance floor. "Justify Your Love" by Madonna is my favourite early trance track (crank it up, get amped and dim the lights) My CD collection goes from Ashley MacIsacc to ZZ Top, with Gypsy Kings, Fragma, Linkin Park and every other style in between. Music is good, and you need to be able to suit your mood. As the saying goes "It's all good" [This message has been edited by Raury

Unfortunately I didn't work last season nor will I this season (current IT position doesn't give me enough weeks off, so I am saving them up), but next season I reckon I will go do dish-pig somewhere I stay at Julians Lodge in Falls Creek. Direct bus from ADL, but it takes about 14 hours to get there. Still, better than no snow at all.
  11. The Restaurant at the end of the Universe - Douglas Adams Equal rites - Terry Pratchett Exchange Server 5.5 and Outlook complete (OK, I haven't read it all quite yet)
  12. Come to AU. Our season is about to start, and we need all the boarder girls we can get. I spent last season following a couple of girls that worked at the lodge I stayed at, and they were so far better than me that it wasn't funny, but I didn't care, coz I learnt a lot hnging around with them.
  13. In AU, we have what are called "long drop" toilets in some back-country and a lot of hiking areas. Basically a deep hole with a toilet put over the top of the hole. You think the trucks smell.....
  14. Used to know some when I was heavily into Judo. We were required to know all of the throws and all the polite stuff in the dojo in Japanese, so we learnt other stuff as well. Unfortunatley, that was nearly 30 years ago. Had a couple of exchange students staying with me about 5 years ago, so learnt how to count, and the names of all the household items. Again, through non-use, I have forgotten.
  15. I'd say season 4/5 changeover was the point that it started to go downhill. Might have to watch some early stuff on video tonight, maybe Tunguska with Rat-boy.
  16. scouse® is some-one from Liverpool, well it is in the UK anyway
  17. rach, do you really want to see a half naked snow-boarder? michael2, it cost me AU$100. That is fairly cheap, but as it was only black, and not too detailed it only took about 1hr or so.
  18. White-void here it is [This message has been edited by Raury (edited 11 May 2002).]
  19. Have a look at how ski.com.au have split up their forums as follows: Conversation - general stuff, not necessarily snow Snow Talk - pretty obvious Travel - reports and queries about O/S travel Q & A - get all those questions answered Weather - strictly weather forecasting Backcountry - for those who go off piste Culture Vulture - the high brow end of the woods Arrangements - get togethers, drink nights, group travel All works pretty well, maybe SJG doesn't have to split too much yet, but some good ideas
  20. white-void, it is about 90mm long. I have a photo at home, so I will find it, host it and post it.
  21. I have a tatt of a gecko climbing up and around the top of my arm. It is a talisman for rock-climbing as geckos are THE most amazing climbing creatures ever.
  22. I dont mind mildly mogulled slopes for practising my turns. Go around them rather than try and ride over them or on the edges. Good practise for keeping your body in as straight a line as possible while letting your boarrd swing from side to side. BTW, I ride a 153, so it might be easier than a longer board
  23. It doesn't take too long to learn how to stand and strap in. It is just pure bad manners to strap in and/or wait for friends on the run tho'.
