Abandoned Resorts
Dunga replied to ozsnowbum's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I would have thought japan being realativly progressive on the environmental front like Australia, that the resort owners would be forced to take down the abandoned lifts. I remember iwatake has quite a few lift lines abandoned, but obviously they are still running overall as a resort. I'm sure it wouldn't take much for the owner to be forced to take down the line. Just a few guys with angle grinders and gas torches a few days to take down the towers in pieces on the back of trucks in the summer season... It could let the mountain return to its original state. But I guess in some wa -
Abandoned Resorts
Dunga replied to ozsnowbum's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Have they just left all the equipment up on the mountain or have they pulled most of it down? Most resorts don't seem to pull down the lifts once they have abandoned that line I Japan. -

Proper Gear for the Season?
Dunga replied to Tachypsychia's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
I picked up a 2013 jones hovercraft 160 for $260AU from a small online store from the states. I couldn't say no with that price. Problem is that I don't think I will get to use it till jan 2014 as the ski season here is not with having a pow board up the mountain with you. -
-20.7, did you just suddenly think to search "smelly bint" to pull up this topic on a snow forum?

Dakine gortex gloves do the job for me. If you pick them up from the states you can save up to 50% compared to aus/japow -

Wow, I didn't know you could get one in that size?!? -
Having too many In bad locations is just as bad as having not enough. I prefer a power board hidden away in a tv cabinet over 25 sockets in the one location. You're better off having a LAN connection or something like that installed.

250-year cooling period ahoy, yey!
Dunga replied to igloo's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Just for the record, Australia has just had the hottest summer on record, it's also had the hottest autumn so far. The weather authority here just had to add a new temperature range as some parts of the country were outside of the hottest possible range. But that doesn't mean that it's not a one off fluke... -

Vinyl sounds better if you're listening to anything produced with "real" instruments, don't know why, it just does. It seems to add life to the recording. I think it has to do with the mid to high treble sounds.

Again it's intensity that is the most important for weight loss. Here's a study that backs it up. http://www.theage.com.au/executive-style/fitness/forget-the-jog-slog-and-fit-in-a-sprint-for-maximum-weight-loss-results-20120628-215a4.html
