Before the rain the other day

SKI. The snow is quite good as we are high area, though yes it is less than usual and it feels spring-like these last week or so. Lower slopes of course have less. There is still much though higher up especially. The monsters suffered a bit in period late January because of warm period. They took a bit of diet and slim down! But since then we had some colder weather but again it has been warm... Generally recent years become less cold, it is worry in long term if it continue/

Wednesday was quite busy here, especially top ropeway. I think waiting time for that was about 10 minutes though another lift was not really waiting. Weekdays are no waiting times generally. It is a good day to go if you can.

I see almost nobody locking their gear here. In Zao, even winter many people use ropeway for tourist sightseeing and so go up without ski or snowboard. Even skier leave ski and snowboard long time at top while they go looking at the snow monster. I only heard of one time with someone reporting snowboard taken by someone else. I hope it does not increase but I think it is a good idea to lock.

No I do not work for the resort but I do work in Zao. Here are some more photo

I never went but I am interested to as the resort has reputation for it's couse. And of course, the sake!

It is wonderful photo. I never went for skiing in Hokkaido, one day I will go!

Lower resort area is having difficult season. Luckily Zao is high up and snow is good condition. Also less than usual I think.

I did not hear of many stolen incident in Zao. Many people bring lost things to a lost area and people who lose them can maybe find them there and collect.

Zao is ok though as with many places less than usual. I think higher places this year are much better advantage.

My home is at the base of the mountain but I have small place in winter in Zao and spending most of winter in Zao. The number of foreigner (Westerner) is increasing but still only small number in total actually. In recent years, many more from Korea and other Asian country into Sendai. It was increasing quite fast. This year but I think the numbers are down as the exchange rate etc influence situation.

I see Asama has been smoking a lot the last few days. They increased volcano warning level from 2 to 3 with increasing activity and earthquake ç¾åœ¨ã€æµ…é–“å±±ã®å™´ç«è­¦æˆ’レベルã¯ã€€ã€Ž ３ ã€ã€€ã§ã™ （レベルãŒï¼’ã‹ã‚‰ï¼“ã«å¹³æˆï¼’１年２月１日ã«å¼•ã上ãŒã‚Šã¾ã—ãŸï¼‰

Kusatsu is onsen/ski town, like Zao in some ways. I went once when I was younger, I thought it was very lovely area. I love trying out different area onsen.
