Will you be wanting to use data/internet? As loaf said, with NTT that is pretty much fixed at 5980 yen a month limit and you get to that limit pretty quick if you use it. If you don't use any data, I think the basic there is 1050 yen. So anywhere between 1050 and 5980 yen for data. Add onto that the basic cost + your calls package.

I am buying a new one and only last week asked the company who look after my apartment building. They had no problem with me wanting to install a proper aircon, said ok straight away.

Family going mental about me being in Japan, until I got home and told them that I was all ok. I don't think they want me to be back, and I am not going back, but that week or so after was a bit wild.
