  3. yeah i know what you mean IQ, i looked yesterday before i left work, then thismorning it looked like a totally different place. looks as though the air is clearing a bit now can see a fair bit more on the webcams. more snow to come tonight? what does the forecast say?

  5. parents are both keen travellers and keen skiiers, first skiing trip was at a very young age in austria, been to numerous places since learning bits along the way. my favourite place so far has been whistler, but january in japan (first time in japan) is my first O/S ski trip that I have organised where it's just friends. high expectations! even bought my own gear!
  6. stemik, what do you do in hakuba? not a bad place to be living! so will you be the mikepow of hakuba? climb the slopes to make first turns of the season? then make every other SJ'er envious with photos?

  9. i watch the happo one webcams at this site pretty regularly http://www.hakuba-happo.or.jp/camera.htm it's got a neat video feed that you can control. it's really exciting at the moment, because it was just starting to snow there last night, and now as the sun is coming up i can see white!!!

  11. first skid at a very young age, turned to snowboarding at about 14, switched back to skiing at about 19-20... now 21, doing my first japan trip these season.. and I have officially (for the first time) bought all my own gear.. i'm a skiier from here on in.
  12. i saw this on the website and thought i'd better check it out... didn't realise it was all japan though! have been watching 'yeah dude' alot recently such a good ski flick so if that is anything to go off then yeah.. i'll definitely check it out.
  13. regular user of protein shakes in conjunction with my heavy gym workouts. the stuff helps your muscles recover heaps faster. remember most of these powders are designed to aid in muscle growth and development, if you want to use it just for recovery, there is protein powders that also have small amounts of creatine in them solely for recovery purposes. I would recommend one of these, they're much more effective at making you less sore in the morning. like Ezorisu said, if you want it to help. get it into you asap after you're done. less than 20 minutes is optimal. but definately within th
  14. SnoWombat - also live and work in port... how about that! Doing my first japan trip in january, leaving 17th. will be skiing (and a mate boarding) hakuba for 2 weeks. I bought all my own gear as I plan on frequent ski trips, and I am v tall and big feet so figured I may have some dramas finding decent ski hire in japan.

Thanks for the welcome! haha yeah i've been watching them already for a while, I'm going to hakuba.. waiting anxiously for first snow in the village.. we have 14 days of skiing/boarding from mid jan to early feb, and also a big first for me.. I've always hired.. just finished buying all my own gear.. everything. how will I ever survive the wait.
