Well, I'm well and truly out of holiday mode again with work piled up, Uni assignments that need doing and no ski trips planned in the foreseeable future. The Ski trip was great and the free day in Niseko a bonus. I haven't forgotten about providing a trip report, I just honestly have no time right now, but I plan to do one in the coming weeks, including hopefully some edited footage from my piles of clips and photos. Thanks SJ.

Furano - Lost my Go Pro :(

I used the head strap for a while, as I don't yet have a helmet, but I opted for the chestie instead, it provides a much more natural view than being on top of your head. I'm 6 foot 4, so having a fisheyed view from way up there really makes the footage look strange. Having the camera right on your chest looks much more natural. Yesterday I also made a pole out for my GoPro using an old ski pole. to the OP, good luck with the camera retrieval, I think if a local finds your camera in the spring, the kindness of the Japanese may lean in your favour, so long as your contact details can be -
last time I went, before I had the 28° card, I just visited an ATM infrequently and got large amounts, enough to last me at least a few days. No problems.

you could prove both theories at once; give him a stick and a rock and see how long it takes him to macgyver a hammer -
Gopro Hero3 black

there is an option in the settings so that it records as soon as it turns on. It's handy because when you're wearing gloves and it's on your helmet, it can be easy to accidentally change a setting, so you choose the setting you want, and only use the power button. -
28degreescard.com.au just don't ever use it as a normal CC. I have it for travel only.

I got $500AU worth of cash in Yen to get us by for places with no card, and I have a 28degrees card (no international fees) that is loaded into credit (they owe me money) and it allows you to use it at ATMs at the current exchange rate with no fees. It's a great card for travelling, as it's free, just don't ever EVER go past the interest free period. <-- there's always a catch, and that's where they'll get your money.

Thanks for all the suggestions SJer's, everything is booked, transfers, hire for the gal, only things left are lift passes and some lessons for her as well, but that can wait until we are in Hirafu. Any shops one would recommend for a good price on a decent helmet? might be time to make the switch. bonus is, gives me some other options for the gopro, rather than chesty all the time.

Splitting a snowboard in Tokyo
alexeiw123 replied to ippy's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
it's worth checking your inventory at home if you're buying something from the states, clothing and kit is that much cheaper, if you're doing one shipment it's worth grabbing a few things you may need, or asking friends. I found dogfunk and backcountry had a really good range of stuff. for e.g. I needed a yellow lense for my oakley crowbars, from U.S. it was cheaper to buy a whole new signature series goggle with yellow lense, than it was to buy the lense alone from here.- 50 replies

I've used myUS before, they were great, and they have an online inventory of your account, so for us, we bought many items from a few different shops, and once they were all together, got them sent back in one package.- 50 replies
