The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Lots wind-blown snow around this morning after some heavy snow overnight, making it difficult to put a number on. Very cold too and the winter conditions are likely to continue through the day. One thing of note this morning is the snow that has been falling.... really great light snow. Making it easy for the wind to blow it around. But once things calm down a bit (or even now if you brave conditions), should be excellent snow conditions to enjoy. Heavy snow potentially overnight but maybe by tomorrow afternoon it will have eased. More snow on the horizon mid week too, so it's not going to stop anytime soon! The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Ou-yuki! Heavy snow this morning to report with a very nice cold new layer of fluffy dry snow on the ground and across the mountains. Swirling winds are affecting some lifts around the Shiga Kogen resorts and I suppose it's unfortunately for lots of visitors that it is over the weekend, but the good refresh is most welcome. The wind is making it difficult to put a number on the snow but some resorts adding up to 30cm. Snow should ease today and by Tuesday we're expecting some clearer skies. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Back to snow this morning, I was up at the Kumanoyu and Yokoteyama area just before and it was really coming down... couldn't see a thing. It's less so back here in the Maruike part of Shiga Kogen though a moderate wind blowing around at the moment. Snowfall not on the forecast for long today though so expect it to finish up and for some sun tomorrow. We'll be back to snow from Sunday afternoon though and through into Tuesday if the forecasts get it right. Sunday should be colder than tomorrow. Have a good weekend! The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . We had some blowing winds overnight as well as a bit of fresh but the thing about this morning is the cold. Very cold indeed. Yakebitaiyama are reporting a temperature of -18C! And perhaps surprisingly some blue skies above and I just had to close the blinds on the window as the sun was shining through.... the slopes are looking very inviting this morning. Snowfall is expected - maybe this afternoon or tonight... For now though, wrap up well and enjoy those quiet slopes. It's another fine morning as well here, yesterday was a great day to be on the mountain. Good snow conditions, fantastic views. A real feel good day. Sounds good to me that....though it is extremely cold! Anyway this morning should be superb with the cold conditions (did I mention it was cold), fresh snow and sun shining down. Perhaps not the lightest driest snow ever, but heavier snow forecast for later on this afternoon too - onegai shimasu! - along with strong winds. Colder conditions as well hopefully. It's all not expected to last much into tomorrow though according to the forecasts. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . This morning is a real beauty. Clear blue skies. Met a family yesterday and the children were skiing for the first time. In the stormy conditions we had. I can't really blame them for the children not enjoying themselves. Unfortunately they didn't get to stay for today and experience these completely different and much more friendly conditions. The experience would probably have been so different. That first time is so important! So yes it's a beautiful day to be outside today. Cold start but the sun shining down should warm things up a bit. That sure is a lot and I can't remember thinking yesterday that we were on for such a dump! But hey, it's the better kind of news so I'll take it. Not due to last the day today and perhaps the sun and clearer skies tomorrow along with milder conditions. We might get to escape the rain that many regions are going to get on Sunday with it straight to snow hopefully. Colder climes again in the first part of next week.
