Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 102cm

Posted on Sunday 22nd December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

A good snowfall since yesterday here in Shiga Kogen.

Resorts are adding between 10cm and 30+cm to their snow depths this morning and there was 20cm on the top of the car to be moved off this morning. It is still snowing and there's a moderate wind. Cold too. Need to be wrapped up and ready for the conditions, but sliding wise there's some very good conditions to be found. Variable visibility conditions now. Here in Maruike it's quite bright now but I was just up at Kumanoyu where there was a wind blowing and I couldn't see much of anything.

Got to say the forecast wasn't saying we'd get this much and it still doesn't have much snow for today, but clearing and a chance of sun tomorrow. Actually fairly calm conditions over the Christmas week.
