Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 67cm

Posted on Thursday 19th December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

It's snowing again this morning. Not much to report in terms of cm right now, but with snow forecast for today and tomorrow I am hoping that we can build on what there is so far. For the moment it's actually not that cold, but should be getting colder as the day progresses.

More should be open from Saturday with amongst other lifts that should be moving for the first time, the Giant, Terakoya, Higashitateyama and Nishitateyama areas also planning to be open. We will soon be more linked up and getting closer to being fully open.

Hoppo Bundaira has jumped from 40cm to 80cm snow depth overnight. Don't get excited, we didn't get 40cm of new snow overnight... I can only imagine a very late update there!
