Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 146cm

Posted on Tuesday 31st December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here.

A thin layer of snow this morning and variable conditions. It's snowing and rather cloudy over at Ichinose, or it was 15 minutes ago, but now back here in Maruike the sun is actually trying to make an appearance.

Clearer skies are actually forecast for later today, before snow and possibly heavy snowfall coming up tomorrow. Hopefully it won't get too windy.

Lots of people around today as you would expect but from my quick look around in the last half hour it all looks manageable without too much of a bottleneck. One of the advantages of their being so many lifts and runs here. Of course it will be getting busier as the morning continues.

Have a good New Years Eve and see you in 2014.
