7-11 2
OK so a fair few people know and go to Kagura on here.... what's your preferred way to get up there? Mitsumata Ropeway Tashiro Ropeway Dragondola from Naeba ?
muikabochi 208
Almost always Mitsumata, simply because it's closer.
Mick Rich 78
Same here!
Tubby Beaver 209
Ditto.....and it seems to be open the most. Dragondola doesn't open till later anyway but is often wind affected.....Tashiro seems to be closed before the Mtsumata side as well
pie-eater 207
When I have been, Mitsumata
tokabochi 9
Not really keen Tashiro. I find it a bit boring and it takes for ages to get over to Kagura and back.
Thundercat 60
Yeah, what Tokabochi said. Tashiro takes like 4-5 lifts plus the ropeway to get over to the Kagura area. From Mitsumata only the ropeway, 1 lift and a gondola.
BagOfCrisps 24
Does the Dragondola get busy? Can't see it being something that so many people want to do myself...
Thundercat 60
When I was there there were almost zero people riding it. It was a weekday though and a little later in the afternoon. I actually wanted to go on it just to see the views but we didn't have time.
muikabochi 208
You know I don't even think the views are that much cop really. For me it doesn't serve much of a purpose, I would be interested to hear how the Prince group feel.
Tubby Beaver 209
I think the numbers are few. I reckon it's paid for in the green season.....it's about 1000¥ a ride during Fuji Rock and it's pretty damn busy for that weekend.
muikabochi 208
But it's only open for then and for a couple of weeks in autumn. Very limited operations outside of winter, Tubby.
gnarly-dude 1
Definitely Mitsumata. I'm not sure if the old story about best snow quality at Tashiro is correct but I find it just so endlessly 'cruising' runs that aren't very interesting.
muikabochi 208
I feel the same, never really taken to Tashiro. In fact T and M are basically just ways to get to K for me when I have been, there's not much to M either is there - just much quicker to get to the best bits.
iiyamadude 6
Mitsumata here too. Though simply because more people go to Mitsumata, some times Tashiro is the better choice.
mina2 6
I have probably been via Tashiro more actually, coming up from Gunma. Often find it less busy as well definitely a plus on weekends.
bugbear 0
Interesting info, will be in the area next season.
muikabochi 208
The other thing about Tashiro is that it seems much easier to close than the Mitsumata side. (edit: as tubby said!)
onsen tamago 0
I do know a few people who stay at Naeba but mostly ski at Tashiro/Kagura. I suppose they just get up, get over to the Gondola and ski from Tashiro. Dont think they bother much with Naeba, but they do like staying in the little village area there. Tubby Beaver 209
there are shuttle buses between the bases as well....Naeba > Tashiro > Mitsumata and back again. Best option IMO due to Dragondola opening late and sometimes not at all
onsen tamago 0
I agree. I think in my friends case, they just like riding that gondola! Must admit I'm never keen on shuttle buses myself.
boardbaka 3
also think Mitusmata access is beeter although in saying that had one a great day riding under the lift that takes you back up to the Tashiro gondola - laps and laps of freshies and a relatively short run was fun
Wizz 11
I find Tashiro too flat and frustrating with the slow lifts. Not in a rush to get back there, will always choose Mitsumata > Kagura.
the snowboarding vicar 1
We went via Tashiro. The reason was actually because the Mitsumata Ropeway car park was full and we were basically moved on. I see on the Now reports that Sunday was the busiest of the season at Kagura!
SKI 15
I see on the Now reports that Sunday was the busiest of the season at Kagura! Yes saw that. I knew it was busy late season, but busiest?! Interesting.
