Drinking from the bottle....

Recommended Posts

What? So, you take a perfectly good glass container (the bottle) and pour the beer from there into another glass container (the glass) before you drink? Seems a waste to me!

The peeps who make the beer go to extreme lengths (at least here) to make sure that the bottle is clean and sterile, why tempt things by pouring it into a glass that might not be anywhere nearly as clean?

If its a 750ml bottle, like used in home brews, and how beer USED to be bought all the time...(ok, so I am old), then a glass is expected, swigging from the bottle means your missus is cheating on you, or you lost your job.

However if it is the single serve kind of beer bottle, go for it.

A little slice of lime in the neck will posh it up if your friend is offended.

Here in the heat of the Antipodes beer shoud be consumed straight from the stubby suitabily encased in a tasteful neoprene stubby holder

In Scotland, that would just hide the lovely ladies on your can of Tennants.

Let me explain a bit.

I suppose the biggest point is that in a pub or restaurant I never drink lager.

I always drink fine bitters and ales.

And they are always pulled, and come from a barrel, into a pint glass.

When I'm not in Japan anyway, where we always get the little glasses of jokki.

Secondly, thirdly and fourthly, reminds me of these things:

- chavs

- 'pretend posh', as big-will so eloquently put it

- American sitcom

Depends on the situation, but if im at home I will happily drink from the bottle especially as it is already chilled.

Waste of a glass that needs to be washed after, bottle I can just toss it into the recycle bin.

End of!!!!
