NoFakie 45
Wonder how many of the things there are in Japan? Madness. If it's drinks machines, 2.5 million. Sugary water (or sometimes just water itself!) @ 120 yen a can is an oishii business. Mr coca-cola will even come and fill the machine for you. http://www.yasuienv.net/GreenPVending.htm
griller 9
How did it get to be this way? Ridiculous amount of the things.
Tubby Beaver 209
I've 2 that are about 10-15 metres away in one direction and another 2 that are maybe 50 metres in the opposite direction. I was getting told that if people have them on their land then they can claim part of their rent/mortgage payments back against their tax as their property is also business premises. Is that true, Chris?
brit-gob 9
Pretty amazing how so many people live so close to one! Closest one to me is about 100m.
Metabo Oyaji 71
700 m. Including beer and sake vending machines. Conveniently located just across the intersection from the local elementary school.
Chriselle 158
I've 2 that are about 10-15 metres away in one direction and another 2 that are maybe 50 metres in the opposite direction. I was getting told that if people have them on their land then they can claim part of their rent/mortgage payments back against their tax as their property is also business premises. Is that true, Chris? Maybe, but the property that we have ours on is a business rental so it all gets lumped together. Also, it's kind of convoluted as we go through an intermediary business that handles the stocking of the machine and pays the electricity. We just get a flat monthly kickback. It's not much really .... but easy money is easy money.
Chriselle 158
700 m. Including beer and sake vending machines. Conveniently located just across the intersection from the local elementary school. Only in Japan...haha...
snowdude 44
A good 300 plus metres from my house if I walk to the main road that has a rest spot or about 500m if I walk north towards a bus stop in the middle of lots of rice fields
Wizz 11
There's one right by the entrance to our place. I hate it. Glaring and seems to be a meeting place for all sorts of flying insects at night. Do not like.
DumbStick 13
There's 6 machines lined up outside an old shop about 100m up the road from me. I counted - some doubled up but over 140 different drink options available!
Chriselle 158
A bevy of umm......beverages..
minus 1
About 200m. What % of Japanese live within 1km of a vending machine? About 95%?
JA2340 16
Closest one to me (not in Japan, obviously) would be around 9km away. And, NO, it doesn't sell beer! The pub across the road from it does that. Oz does not have the obsession with vending machines for beer, hot and cold drinks tha Japan has. Most vending machines here have cold drinks! Tubby Beaver 209
like every other country in the world.......other than Japan
HelperElfMissy 42
We had a vendy at the local rec centre (also my closest vendy location) that delivered crispy hot fries for a few dollars... I thought that was pretty radical for an Aussie Vendy! Now replaced with an entire vending machine of bottled water...
OzOzOz 2
Actually can't remember seeing many food ones in Japan. They're mostly drinks and tobacco aren't they?
Tubby Beaver 209
The food ones are usually at rest stops and the like on the motorways
KlingKlang 1
Where are all the used panties ones? Not that I want to use one....
Tubby Beaver 209
Haha the holy grail! apparently u can still find them in backstreet filth shops in shinjuku and Shibuya but are now very very rare.
KlingKlang 1
I'll just have to find some in a washing basket then I suppose.
onehunga 26
We have 3 drink machines and 3 food machines in an alcove of the lobby of our apartmant building. (our apartment is directly above the alcove, but to walk, about 50m) 1 directly opposite the apartment entrance, 3 just up the road about 100m and 3 down the road 200m. Don't have to go very far for drinks or chocolate
