RobBright 35
Is that a lake or the sea in the background of the second picture?

muikabochi 208
There's no water like that in view from Naeba. Wild guess Charmant Hiuchi.
RobBright 35
There's no water like that in view from Naeba. Wild guess Charmant Hiuchi. Really? I thought there was a lake in the vicinity of Naeba and Kagura?
tokabochi 9
There is a smallish lake (Tashiro), but it doesn't look like that, Man.
Chriselle 158
No on Naeba and not Charmant Hiuchi.
Tubby Beaver 209
As Tokabochi said, but it's at Kagura u can't see it from Naeba ski runs
Metabo Oyaji 71
I'm gonna guess Shokanbetsudake. 'Cuz that's where it is.
Chriselle 158
I'm gonna guess Shokanbetsudake. 'Cuz that's where it is. Nope.. and I saw what you did there... Going out for a run... this should be over by the time I get back.
Metabo Oyaji 71
What I did there? I guessed somewhere near the sea in Hokkaido, near Rumoi (where you have mentioned spending time before), and the very first thing I found on the map was Shokanbetsudake ski area in nearby Mashike. I can even see the gravel pit trapezoid on the satellite image... Do you want "Mashike Choei Shokanbetsudake"?
Tubby Beaver 209
That's wot I tried to do

Chriselle 158
Hakuba Tsugaike Mashike Shokanbetsudake...to be EXACT!!. Na, I was just trying to throw you off. Of all the years I've been going there I never knew it was officially called Choei Shokanbetsu. I and everyone I know just calls it Mashike Skijo. Learn something new everyday. It's a pretty good little fringe skijo and perfect for when I don't feel like making the trip to Kamui or Furano. Over to you then Metabo.
Metabo Oyaji 71
Got it! Ok, where's this then?

It's a pretty good little fringe skijo and perfect for when I don't feel like making the trip to Kamui or Furano. Over to you then Metabo. I imagine they get a fair bit of snow there mid winter? Shokanbetsudake holds its snow well into the summer. I skied up there in July last year. Long hike from the Mashike trailhead with skis and boots on my pack!
