kkk 7
Looks like there are moves to change the age of 'seijin' from 20 to 18. On the tv now an Austrian was saying it was 16. And the US differing by state? Next year in Korea they are changing it from 20 to 19. What is it where you are from?

pie-eater 207
Wonder what the arguments for and against will be. Curious that S Korea going from 20 to 19.
HelperElfMissy 42
Australia 18 +1 It always confused me that in America you could drive at 16 but not drink until 21... What age can you enlist and die for your country? In Australia: Adult price plane tickets ... 12 Travel alone on a plane ... 16 (doh) Legally have sex ... 16 Drive ... 17 Enlist ... 18 Vote ... 18 Be tried as an adult in court ... 18 But yet we still have massive 21sts and it is called your 'coming of age' Hilarious! Jynxx 4
According to my missus, in Germany. Beer 16 (but most drink at 12 at home) tabbaco 16 vodka
69 5
On the subject of beer. Does anyone like it when they first drink it when they are a teen? Or is it just a to be cool thing? I remember hating it.
gareth_oau 2
my oldest son (now 22) is Mr Mature and Responsible - he's been an adult since he was about 4 years old! On the other hand his younger brother (21 this year) wont be an adult for at least another 20 years!
Jynxx 4
On the subject of beer. Does anyone like it when they first drink it when they are a teen? Or is it just a to be cool thing? I remember hating it. I hate it. Even now. It just taste like vitamin B tablets and it stinks. I don´t like fizzy drinks either. I hate coke. People don´t seem to understand when they offer me beer and then ask me if I´d like a coke instead.
HelperElfMissy 42
I love the fizz, but not the taste of many drinks Jynxx. Pass me the Sparkling Mineral Water please Beer... could not tolerate until I started snowboarding. Still prefer a though..
Jynxx 4
Alcohol and beer is in your genetic make up. I read somewhere, that once a German king wanted to ban all the cofee shops that have sprung up after the discovery and import of coffee ... Reason - his subjects were getting too intellectual and losing aggression.

That is a big mix up! Always laugh when kids aged 12 are charged adult prices on things. We are involved in greyhound racing, and the mid week restaurant deal there has kids prices for Under 15s and under 12s. I always laugh when my 6ft 2, 110kg monster of a 14 year old is heading to the buffet table for a tiny kiddies price. Although with the small amount I eat at the adult price we are probably even. NoFakie 45
Adult price plane tickets ... 12 In Japan kids pay about 95% of adult fare when they are two on international flights and three on domestic ones.
gareth_oau 2
that actually makes rational sense - a 3 yr old is sitting in a seat that would be otherwise occupied by a full-fared adult. The 5% discount represent the less food and fuel they would need to complete the journey
HelperElfMissy 42
Dunno about that Gareth, strollers and car seats normally get carried free of charge on top of baggage allowance, and babies and kids need a lot of 'stuff'. As for food, they might not eat it, but they still get given it..it jus ends up smeared on the seat and trampled into the floor requiring cleaning. Do you not remember these things!!!? Mick Rich 78
Curious that S Korea going from 20 to 19. & don't forget that in Korea they count ages differently, by basically adding a year on to your "real" age, so that means it'll be coming down to the same as the UK, Australia. As for food, they might not eat it, but they still get given it..it jus ends up smeared on the seat and trampled into the floor requiring cleaning.
gareth_oau 2
actually, MB, one of our trips, one of the kids threw up everywhere as we were coming in to land. Would it be reasonable to ask for a partial refund for the food he didnt retain? LOL
