Last night I saw of vid of me boarding the other week and I was shocked at how baaaaad I looked (bad as in not good, if you know what I mean). I thought I was at least better than that. I remember this being said before, but anyone else seen vids of yourself and been a little shocked?

Friends reckon I've got a good, if not unique, technique. But I feel like everything is being done wrong and am rolling down the hill like a bag of fruit.

Those instructor lessons that include videos are a good idea because you can SEE what needs fixing, but the advent of personal digicams makes it easier for those not wanting the cash outlay of specialised (expensive) lessons.

Good technique leads to style - still a work in progress I guess! \:\)

It's the same as when you hear yourself sing on tape. It sounds good in your head but woeful on tape. Video is a really good way to improve your snowboarding. When I did my instructors course in NZ we did video sessions everyday and it really helps you improve your technique/style.

I recently saw a vid of myself from last weekend actually. And while it was awful and I think I looked really much worse than I imagined, I learnt a lot from it. Just very difficult to watch.

I took part in a 4 day ski lesson course in late February, it was excellent. I improved so much, and a big part of it was the vids. . ..watching what you were doing on the screens in the evening you could really see where you were going wrong. Helped tons. They did that on each evening.
