indosnm 0
A lot of the lakes or rivers have inlets from the ocean. We get dolphins and sharks in or rivers and lakes all the time.
Tubby Beaver 209
lakes are usually fed by somewhere, many have rivers and/or streams attached to them

ssar 0
Sharks are wonderful creatures. Carcharodon carcharias (the Great White Shark) is simply a fantastic creature, at the top of the food chain in his environment (the ocean). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_shark It is sadly an endangered species these days, and should be protected. If he, or any other aggresive & fast type sharks wish to eat you, they will. We are delving into thier domain, with a host of significantly hazardous risks to our health involved. You are 1000's of times more likely to be killed or maimed badly navigating a road en route to the beach, than by any shark. You are MUCH more likely to be killed or maimed badly by many other animals, including the domestic horse. Quite a range of different Sharks navigate our coastal waters often, and have done for years, however we now have more opportunities, awareness of what to look for, and technology available these days to actually see more of them. And sure, some of them are unnaturally changing thier feeding & hunting patterns to occasionally include a swipe at a human since, you guessed it, much of thier usual/traditional feeding & hunting areas have been severely detrimentally affected by over-fishing. Comeuppence, in a way. ('cept not many of the bastard fisherman-rapists of the oceans will get eaten)
iiyamadude 6
Sharks are great, I agree. Not the people kind don't like them.
Mantas 3
I like sharks too......except when they steal my fish.
Mantas 3
Aint it wierd though. Four attacks in one week, then nothing. One week out of 52 the sharks start chomping people. Maybe it was munch a human week.

Mantas 3
Another one this morning in Cronulla (Sydney). A 15 year old boy mauled in the surf. That's 3 in 3 weeks for Sydney. About 8 for the year nation wide. Story here.

Mantas 3
Don't you think it a bit odd though Indo? Been pretty quite in recent years.
indosnm 0
Odd I guess. Not worthy of the media hype, though the little fella might make some coin! Apparently the NSW fishos are only allowed to catch 160 tonne of shark per year per fisho(which they have already reached this year) yet the QLD guys are allowed to catch 3000 tonne per year per fisho. Fish n chips needs a big comeback.
BagOfCrisps 24
I saw on the news lots of stranded beasts yesterday. Apparently lots died but lots were saved. Poor beasts.
