muikabochi 208
OK here's my idea. I'm going to try and take some simple vid clips of the resorts I go to this season. Not action shots, but hopefully showing people what the resorts look like and will help them get an idea of the size and everything. I suppose it might be helpful to some people who haven't been. Whether I will actually be able to do this and for how many I do not know.... but today I did a first run at Muikamachi Hakkai-san. This resort is about 10 minutes drive from where I live, and is basically one big long run with a few other small courses on the sides. But people go for the main long course which is often ungroomed and lots of moguls. You will see that I am Speilberg-level with my video direction, and I will only get better. I'll add more through the season, you are welcome to add yours. http://www.snowjapan.tv/view_video.php?viewkey=649590b755372b040afa&page=1&viewtype=&category=mr
69 5
Actually I wouldn't mind "seeing" some resorts I don't know yet. Gambatte!
Tubby Beaver 209
Great idea actually. I'd like to see more of this as instead of always heading out for the bigger resorts, there may be a smaller one nearer (and therefore cheaper ) for a day trip but I wouldn't consider it because I don7t know what its like....does that make sense?? Any techy person able to explain to me how to stop videos stop/starting for buffering? Its really annoying but I have no idea what causes it or how to stop it
rach 1
I like that idea, good one muikabochi! I have just got a vid camera and so I might try to do this as well. It will be good to see other places I haven't been to.

Well you can but you have to hit the pause button on the video control and wait for the line to get a fair way ahead. I am not sure about the technical issues with buffering but as i understand it. it is trying to play more bandwidth than can get through your broadband so it stores up some of the signal(sic) so that it plays back later.. edit: this one does not have a download line. youtube and others do have it.. i think.. doh@! I just hit the pause button and let it catch up and then play it after i wait a while..

muikabochi 208
The second resort (or the first one in winter) that I will introduce is Ishiuchi Maruyama in my "city" (Minamiuonuma). Here you go: PART 1: http://www.snowjapan.tv/view_video.php?viewkey=0db309e056e3d2dcd7d6&page=1&viewtype=&category=mr PART 2: http://www.snowjapan.tv/view_video.php?viewkey=ffa2b3ff8c02ebfd5659&page=1&viewtype=&category=mr Very exciting stuff. (You will need to be registered and logged in to see them I think as they are longer than the guest daily limit)

muikabochi 208
Next in the series - the Muikamachi Hakkai-san resort in my town Minamiuonuma. I did a quick test vid before the season - in the first post of this thread - but this is the new "skijo is open" version, taken today. http://www.snowjapan.tv/view_video.php?viewkey=047a44b08ed031e1f0ed It's ever so exciting, definitely worth a look. sanjo was in charge of the camera and so hopefully will get some pics up soon. veronica 2
Thanks for putting the time in muikabochi. Anyone else living in a ski area care to do the same for us?
kaptankangaroo 0
If thinking of going to Gala try and get a linked ticket to Ishiuchi, much better value than Gala by itself. Whenever i have been to Ishiuchi the lift lines are non existent, it makes a good break from Gala especially on weekends. My first resort in japan was Gala, just so convenient from tokyo and i didnt know what i was doing. There are better places out there but you cant beat getting off the shink at the base station(hence the numbers).
