snowboarding-sam 0
Hey last night I had some Shiga Kogen jibiiru - very nice it was, perhaps the nicest I have tried in fact. I'll definitely be taking some of that home. Any other good ones to recommend or new ones?
bushpig 0
yeah that stuff is sweet!
yoroshiku onegai shimasu 2
I quite liked the one from near where muikabochi lives. Hakkaisan I think it is called same as the sake. Most of them I feel taste fairly similar.
grungy-gonads 54
Shiga Kogen jibiru is the nicest one I have tried. Bring some back for me will you sam?
NoFakie 45
Shiga Kogen beer is pretty good value. 350 max. I liked the blond one.
Yuki's Passion 1
Will be the 5th or 6th to second Shigas Jibiru - fantastic stuff.
BagOfCrisps 24
This is the Shiga kogen beer love in thread perhaps but, yes, it is very nice. We had more than our fair share I hope they are catching up woth the brewing.....
muikabochi 208
Yes it is Hakkai-san yoroshiku. I like it though I also like the SK one. Not keen on the Yuzawa one.
Yuki's Passion 1
Theres an excellent Aomori city Jibiru place. I cant remember the name of it cuz I went many years ago but it was quite nice Anybody live up there know names? We had many of those then switched over to sake to go watch the Nebuta matsuri. muikabochi 208
((Creek Boy - do you know why it is that sometimes I see your avatar and sometimes I don't.)) ?
Yuki's Passion 1
I have it turned off so I dunno. What is my avatar again? ...oh yeah, da onsen monkeys - they were pretty cool.
muikabochi 208
Strange how sometimes it is on and sometimes a image not found. If you upload it to your account here it will always be there.
bobby12 0
Theres a decent local brewer down here called 'Akashi' I think. They do about 5 kinds, but no white beer unfortunately. Anyone know a brewer that does white beer here?
sanjo 2
There's one not too far from where I am in a place near Tsukioka onsen that was quite nice. But I agree with yoroshiku, many of them taste very similar.
rach 1
Most of the jibirus I have tasted are too strong for my liking. Some of those "dark beers" are almost undrinkable.
Yuki's Passion 1
dunno in Kansai bobby but if youre in Sannomiya Id be game to go to the Belgium Bar for a Hooegaarten!
snowboard 0
The few jibiru that I have tried (cant remember names) have tasted very similar to each other and have been pretty poor, with a strong almost chemical-like taste. No thanks! I have not been impressed, though perhaps I need to try this Shiga kogen one or other good one.
BagOfCrisps 24
Try it. I could do with some now. Do they sell it online? Don't know why I'm asking because they won't be shipping overseas surely!
Ezorisu 0
I think some jibiiru aren't pasteurized, so maybe the handling and storage might affect the taste... like if it tastes like band-aids (phenolic) then it's probably been compromised.
Wizz 11
Quote: like if it tastes like band-aids If it tastes like band-aids, why are they selling it (and who is buying it?)!
skidaisuki 0
If non-Japanese microbrews are included, I really like the (Hawaiian) Kona Ales that they serve at Kua Aina Burger - Big Wave Golden Ale is the one I like the best. I think that there are other places that sell them, too. If you are in Tokyo and like Jibiru, try the brews at T Y Harbor Brewery, Tennoz Isle (nr Shinagawa). It's not the cheapest place to eat and drink, but everything that they serve is good. I was in Shiga at the weekend and given the relatively poor snow, drinking some of that Shiga Kogen beer was a definite highlight
