Ocean11 0
Very unusual in a titty bar. The shiny disco ball clashes in a most unseemly way with the sedate aesthetic. That thar building will likely be a heating nightmare...
panhead_pete 27
The room looks big enough for a pole Contrary to some peoples hopes I wont be opening a titty bar.
Ocean11 0
Something like this might be just the ticket... The young ladies would polish it to a nice sheen as they go up and down.
Ocean11 0
That Hakuba place is getting a bit litigious at the moment. Watch your back mate.
NoFakie 45
Proper old-school tatami are 180cm by 90cm, which is 4 shaku by 2 shaku in the traditional measuring system for builders, one shaku being 45cm. Japanese cities being the crowded places they are, you now get "mansion", i.e., apartment, -size tatami that are maybe 15cm shorter. Most new places have these, not the old full size ones. Kyoto people have their own size too, or so I've been told. It sounds like the type of thing Kyoto people would do. If you have a fetish night, you'd better keep the stilettos off the tatami. Its a disaster waiting to happen.
grungy-gonads 54
Tatami rooms are smelly, some of them quite nicely but some of them quite offensively. Only limited times for me, tatami.

Kumapix 0
don't roll around on old tatami!
jgraves 0
Today, most tatami mats are about 95% styrofoam on bottom with a tatami cover (try lifting the mats in your room to see which you have). They're a lot warmer, quieter, and don't have the bug problems that the 100% tatami tatami mats have. Just don't jump up and down too much on the new ones or you'll end up with Edward James Omlos tatami.
scouser 4
A friend of mine had a tatami mat 'bedroom' and never took his futon up in 3 years. The tatami was black and in a pretty bad state when he eventually moved. He was quite embarrassed.
nzlegend 1
scouser that is disgusting, how feral was your friend? 3 years and never lifted the futon?
gerard 6
I think I may have a mild allergy to Tatami.--not just old moldy ones, but new ones too. I wonder if that's common.

Curt 1
I'm glad I don't have a tatami mat room in my place. I had a choice when I came here and went for the wooden floor. I don't mind the smell but wouldn't want it every day.
