Thanks to the 9 people who took the time to tell us about the fool that posted some offensive nonsense on the Forums just before.

It's great to know so many people care enough to let us know as soon as something like that happens.

Big thank you, we really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Yes we do have IPs and email addresses. IPs do change and we don't particular want to ban an IP address because other people might be using it.

If

- people fill out the registration form properly

- it does not look suspicious (you often get a feel for that, hard to describe)

- their email/IP is not on our black list (a list of previous criminals)

...then we usually approve the registration. Not much more we can do there. We don't want to be overly strict, but of course want to keep troublemakers out. \:\(

No expert but I think first layer dynamic IP allocation by your provider is meant to thwart hackers & the likes. Most likely the guy did it from an internet cafe or something like this. The best you could get is probably the name and address of the provider, after that you are on your own... Unless it is a static IP? Were you able to tell the geographical origin of the IP?

Thanks.

SerreChe, thanks. Right now, we really don't have any time to go into all that. We do keep records of everything we delete though, so once we get all our site updates done we plan to get back to this. In the meantime if anyone tried to register using that IP address/mail, it will get flagged up.
