big-will 7
What do/would you do if you are shown to a room in a hotel that is less than clean? Over summer we booked into a hotel (in the UK) and amongst other things I found a used sock just under/at the side of the bed, a half used soap in the sink and the bathroom and room itself was generally less than fresh and clean. I walked out of the place (after having a heated discussion and getting my cash bac) but would like to report this place somewhere as it was just awful. Any advice on a good place to do that? bushpig 0
I'd do the same, but don't know how to report it. If it was in Aus, then there are consumer watch boards that you can report these things to.
rach 1
Hotels HAVE TO BE very clean. I cannot put up with any sign of not cleanness. Even with a clean room I always feel that it's not REALLY clean. Lets capitals to emphasise!
NoFakie 45
Ask the Citizen Advice Bureau if you want to do something official. Slag them off on TripAdvisor if you want to warn other people.

misorano 1
Don't know about England, but in Japan you can complain to the health department and the local authority that has registered them.

happyhappy 0
I'm the same, very very fussy about hotel rooms. Actually I'm generally not that keen on hotels myself even more expensive ones.
frannyo 2
I really like staying at hotels - as long as they are clean, no cheapo places for me. Had a bad experience once staying at this b&b it was awful almost everything about it. The place was a last minute thing and we had very little choice where we were but it really was bad. I reported it to a number of places - hotel association, town council, put a few reviews online
Kumapix 0
if it was a half decent place you should have been upgraded. The more you freak out the bigger the upgrade (I used to work at a hotel) but if the whole place was disgusting then walking was the best thing

misorano 1
Cleanliness is vital. Only place I've evey noticed that wasn't up to scratch was a love hotel in Aso in the middle of nowhere because it had cockroaches coming out of the plug hole in the bathroom. lin 0
I have a friend who has had a few bad "love hotel" experiences - with the hotel themselves, pretty awful by all accounts. Not keen myslelf.
