soubriquet 0
According to soubriquette, the 24 season calendar gives the start of autumn as 10th August. The nights here are definitely cooling, with dew and early morning mist. 秋 Let's aki
merryJim 1
I only feel like it's Lets Aki when the temperatures are bearable. Thats usually mid September. Quote: with dew and early morning mist. Is that early for your area, soubriquet?

soubriquet 0
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun; Conspiring with him how to load and bless With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run; To bend with apples the moss’d cottage-trees, And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core; To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells With a sweet kernel; to set budding more, And still more, later flowers for the bees, Until they think warm days will never cease, For Summer has o’er-brimm’d their clammy cells. (Keats) I feel sorry for you southern peeps. It's autumn here. soon it will be winter
rach 1
Now that sounds good. Something to look forward to returning to.

soubriquet 0
Hmm. We've had a stinking SE foehn for the past 3-4 days, not autumnal at all. Thankfully we now have a nice norwester, the rain has started and the temperature dropped by about 10 degrees.
big-will 7
I will be happier when the temperatures drop another 10 degrees and do so on a consistent basis!
soubriquet 0
My theory is that summer exists to remind us of how much more pleasant the other seasons are. Fwiw, we are in for a hot week here, but last night I needed to wear something in bed for the first time in a couple of months. Keep the faith!
oblivion 5
The theory is fine but why does it have to last so damn long? Not that long to go now. PS And how many other seasons were there again.?

This is gonna sound really outta place on this site, but my theory is the opposite Soub! Winter exists simply for that reason in my opinion! I hate the cold! And the landscapes are so drab (when no snow) that the spring greens are awesome. The only thing making winters bearable is the snow and therefore snowboarding/skiing! soubriquet 0
Well Bushpig, you pass the Aussie test and I fail. Twelve Perth summers are enough. I don't miss 5 months of blue sky and hot hot hot at all.

me jane 0
I like all (24?) seasons. I get bored towards the end of each season, and find myself looking forward to the next. Japan is particularly good for that, each season is very distinct, and offers different activities.

soubriquet 0
Woo hoo. Last Sunday I was melting in the sun in shorts and Tee shirt at a local matsuri, Monday was perfect for the mountain onsen. Today I'm in jeans and three layers. Autumn colours are appearing now. The mountain lacquer trees are starting to turn.
