lin 0
When did the Japan football team become "Samurai Blue"? Only just heard that this time round.
Kumapix 0
well, the blue is a special dye made in Kyoto
scouser 4
I only heard it recently as well.
jgraves 0
I remember hearing it at the last world cup as well. Think the "samurai" thing is just slang for "Japanese" isn't it? There are "samurai bonds" which are normal bonds, just yen-denominated, etc etc.
scouser 4
But do Japanese often refer to Japanese things using the word? And, more importantly, did samurais wear a lot of blue?
bobby12 0
I dont know, but that blue sucks. Its too purple-y.
jgraves 0
They sure say "samurai blue" a lot. And Japanese economic newspapers almost always have "samurai saiken" in paraentheses after the regular term for it ("en tate gaisai") Perhaps they should go with the bobby12 blue? Much less purple-y. dale#1 1
I like the blue. Just think how much cash they could rake in just by changing the color slightly (or a lot). All those billions of Japanese fans would go out and buy right off.
BagOfCrisps 24
Me to it's a very nice blue. Pity about the team.
