  1. Maybe, but from the information in the snow report it doesn't sound very clever. But you are right, the report isn't very detailed and there could be other factors as well.
  2. Im using Lightroom as the standard program and if needed I'll open the image in Photoshop but for 80% of the images LR is enough.
  3. To me, triggering an avalanche from above on your friend doesn't sound very experienced...
  4. It has been snowing all day Tomorrow could be a good ski day as its suppose to snow this night aswell.
  5. It really was a good day today. We were pleasantly surprised by the snow quality. We expected dust on crust and got powder
  6. I cant help but think that the 24-70 is a strange choice for the D300. I would probably miss the last millimeters down to 17 or 18. However on the D3 it should be the perfect choice and what I've heard it is better than the Canon 24-70.
  7. The norwegian living in the room next to me has the d300 with the new 14-24, the new 24-70 and the 70-200. Im just a tad jealous

  10. Thanks for the reply. Im thinking about the Canon HV20 HDV-camera and maybe a Canon ST-E2 wireless flash transmitter. And maybe some canon lenses.
  11. Hi, im going to stay in Hakuba for three months and I'm thinking of picking up some camera gear to use on the ski slopes as well. Is there any good shops in Nagano or any good Japanese web shops? I've looked at Yodobashi but the Japanese is pretty hard for me to understand. How much will be added in taxes and customs if I buy from the U.S, below 10%? Please help me. Thank you / contender
  12. Im leaving Sweden for Japan tomorrow, looks like the conditions are great!
  13. As someone already have said, its when going from cold to hot it will get clouded. To prevent this, store the camera not to close to the body and make the transition from cold to hot as long as possible, i.e. let the camera stay in the bag a couple of hours after the photoshoot. When I'm skiing I'm storing my camera in a LowePro Toploader Zoom bag inside my normal backpack.
  14. How are the camera prices in nagano? and how is the offer of different lenses? thanks
  15. I think D300 is a huge improvement over D200. First of all the new autofocus system is the same as in the pro model. great for action photography. The bigger buffer is needed when shooting action with raw. And finally with a CMOS that probably better will match Canons noise levels.
  16. I think it will be many years before a consumer camera has a 24x36 sensor. Bear in mind that the cheapest camera with FF (eos 5D) still costs $2500.

I can open canon raw from my 20D directly with Photoshop CS3 I shoot 95% in RAW and 5% in JPEG
  18. What? I have no problem shooting at iso 100 at 5 fps with my ordinary lenses.
