  1. Some good points about the battery, I usually never remove the battery, as always using with and without the mains. It is true the batteries do have memory, although the latest ones tend to be better, like the old cam corder batteries, they used to have a problem with memory, which is why people used dischargers, to make sure they were fully flat before a recharge, that way they lasted longer. As you have a brand new computer you shouldn't have a problem with battery memory, so whether you take it out or not shouldn't matter. One thing though it is good to use the battery someti
  2. From the UK, but nearly spent a quater of my life in Japan now
  3. In Japan, have been for nearly nine years now. Tokyo and Nagano!
  4. Wow just checked, couldn't believe it 27451 photos on my HD. I have them all backed up on DVD's plus other hard external hard drives for safety. Infact got my whole computer backed up on seperate ext drives just for safety. SG your son sounds a bit like my daughter, whenever we go out she crazes me to let her use the camera, and although I haven't really told her anything except where the shutter button is, she can take good pics for her age at only five. It's amazing how quickly children learn things.
  5. Yep actually was two this morning; one, then a smaller one a short time later! Seems like the tectonic plates are angry.
  6. Missed that earthquake was in Korea, just got back this evening. I must say in the past three weeks or so, Kanto area has had about 3 or 4 earthquakes that I have felt. Hope this is not brewing up to the big one!
  7. I usually buy a new comp about every 2-3 years, as I like to keep up with the latest, but usually not because it has stopped working. As I always do cleaning maintance it usually keeps working quite well, but I guess when it comes to comps I just have to have the latest. I have a new comp now actually, a Lamborghini, by Asus, running windows vista ultimate. It has 4gb of dual speed memory, 160gb 7200 HD, 2.6ghz quad core processor, 9600 Nvidia graphics card. Also got Bluetooth, wireless mouse and finger sensor security log-in. Only bought it recently and very happy with it so far, I g
  8. I find that vista does instal unnessary updates, that depending on your luck can screw it up. Best to have the system constantly backed up using norton go back, ghost or save and restore, then easy to roll the computer back, this is good in any case. Also I use opera and avant browser or firefox, never once open IE, and it is also a known problem with many vista machines. I recommend downloading opera or firefox and make one of those two your default browser. Having said that you may find some streaming videos will not work with opera, unless you install the plug-ins, but that is u

  13. Wow now this is something else, up to 4 pages for a thread like this. This is the most popular thread I have come up with, I wonder how many pages it will end at, could it go all the way to 10?
  14. Wow that sucks, sorry to hear that, hope your friend make a complete recovery soon,
  15. Actually I'm amazed this thread has gone as long as it has, thought that no one would post to this, it's surprising how a thread like this gets peoples interests. Hehe

There seem to be a ton of resorts and I wasn’t sure if there would even be any snow left. This late in the season and with my skill level (beginner to intermediate) what resort(s) would be best for me to go to? Thanks in advanc

  19. Ok all, just wasting server space here to make it to 100 posts. When I look at some with more than 5000, I reckon you must post about 50 times a day to get that. Wow
  20. Well looks like my total only ended up at a misealy 13 times this season, but all enjoyable times all the same, this last month was to busy to hit the slopes, but may get a final slide in this month somewhere if I can. Hopefully next season I can do more.
  21. In all the years I've been here I never waer the communial slippers, as all too small to fit my feet anyway, but yes I understand sharing slippers is not a good thing, but oh well they do it here.
  22. When you say 'how many different resorts', do you mean as in new, first time to try if so then for me it would, Marunuma, Yuzawa nakazato, minami kogen, minami houdaigi. If it is how many different resorts you have been to this year then that would be eight for me I think. Having said that I went to some of these and other resorts more than once this year.
  23. That will depend on how deep the snow is and how much sun it gets every day and how much it freezes at night I guess, but other than that I don't know, must vary though from place to place.
  24. Best way get your self a 4x4 if you can with studless tyres, thats what I drive, never have to worry about snow on the roads then, I have driven through snow 30cm deep no worries at all. I remember when I first came to Japan many moons ago and rented a car from Tokyo with chains, what a joke, drove through just a few inches of snow and got stuck, had to get a 4x4 to pull us out, after that I decided to by a 4x4, so wouldn't have that problem anymore. Of course normal 4 wheel drive car will ground out much quicker than the off roaders, but still good.
