  1. I am not a skinflint, but being a student in Japan its hard to keep up. Anyway what is the cheapest say 3 day deal you have heard of for Niseko?
  2. Motherhucker do you know is that Italian thing still on at sukiya? I might go there for lunch today. Is there Tomatoes in it? I hate them.
  3. I would love to go to Niseko. But for the price of going to Niseko for 3 days, I can get 3 trips of 3 days in Nigata.
  4. Nope closer to Tokyo. Shiga. But it was on the coldest day, like -10 or something. On a bigger image I have you can see the diamond dust(hard to breathe.
  5. Here is a photo I took from 2 years ago. I will take loads this year with my canon 20 d.
  6. But if you drink in the onsen the alcohol circulates through your body faster, you will get a buzz and all hot. So you have to roll around naked in the snow.
  7. ubuntu linux is the shit. Open office is in its second generation and doesnt have any major problems using Microsoft office files. The only problem I have(using it in my office all the time) is that English to Japanese on excel is difficult to encode proberly(not impossible though) If you are a game player, you could always have dual boot. If you want something that is really flashy check out compiz, beryl or emerald for ubuntu or any linux distro. It will impress anybody. (flashier than Vista RC1 now. ) Watch this video to see what linux can do these days It can al
  8. Get a sony "type G" its sick at 898 grams http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Style-a/Product/G/index.html
  9. Fattwins, the question is not about whether I will wear the Jacket or not( I will) Its why do Japanese have a bad attitude to kanji, even when it is correct. Not like something that was made outside Japan with incorrect Kanji. Yankee explains it a bit, but not everything with kanji is yankee.
  10. It would be better to wait. To tell you the truth the big industrys are holding back on the cutting edge regarding notbooks and selling off all the old(ish) stock under the veil that they are vista ready. The truth is they are vist ready and you are better off buying something with an nvidia chipset. But I would wait until blue ray is properly intergrated, sony already has a blue ray laptop with HD output. Wait at least 6 months before the tech become mainstream. When you get your vista ready laptop, install ubuntu linux on it
  11. Yeah I know, but I don`t think I was designed for that market even. What I am saying is that just because I cant win, unless I wear something completely plain or stick with English.
  12. Everybody cares some what, what people think. We are social beings after all. Yeah Kumapix they say its yankee, but I dont think it was ment to be, since it really is a Japanese brand. When I first came to Japan I used to wear a "Bench" skate shirt. Well it had one of the pre war japanese flag designs that was quite large. Loads of people would stop me on the street and be angry at me. Saying that I though Japan was a seat or something. I hate the if you wear Kanji you are a henna-gaijin. I have lived here 3 years and I have to go out and buy Japanese clothes, I am not doing to
  13. Well they say its okashi. Mostly because there is a lot of kanji on it. There is a mon on the back and a painting of a sumo on the liner. e.g. /> />
  14. Has anybody seen their snowboarding line of clothes? I bought a jacket last year, I thought it was pretty cool, but all my Japanese friends say its a bit strange. Why dont Japanese like their own designers that acrualy are quite good. By the way I am not one of thoes Japan wanabees that are mad into zen or something.
  15. If you are looking for real cheap equipment, you can probably get some for 1500. There is an old outlet shop I know that sells everything dirt cheap. Jackets 1000 en, Pants 1000 en etc. But it is about 3 years old. Saying that on the same street I bought my Snowboard Jacket for 40000 but found pants in that shop that were extra large for 1000. outsize equipment gooes for a lot cheaper. There are about 50 winter shops in that area and they allways have racks for last years gear.
  16. Yeah you should use the time to get all your snow equipment, there are sales and displays all over the place.
  17. Went to Yoshinoya because they have real beef back on for the week *+* but sukiya kills yoshinoya.
  18. OK slight change of topic. When you got injured, did you let somebody help you or try to walk (ski) it off? On red and black slopes and taken a tumble nobody has stopped to ask if I was ok(if they did I would probably refuse) But in Japan I never have been asked.
  19. If you have pre booked your ski resort you can have them sent direct to the resort.
  20. When you are being ****ed around I do believe it is acceptable behaviour. Don't you?
  21. Its common in Japan, are you sure its your landlord? Because it could be a few people, often the eletric man can come if if your landlord gave him the key. It happens more than you think. But in Japan if you have a serious greviance, you can hold back on your rent, you can do it legally but you can also do it in a grey area kind of way, just dont pay. They can throw you out for 6 months, they cant get the money off you and if you dont have a contract there is nothing they can do about it. There are a few gaijins who know this and stay here for ages with out paying rent. If you have
  22. http://www.sunshinecity.co.jp/winterresort/index.html Just read the details, as for the merchandise, it says you can get 50-80% off items(mostly ski) But you know there are loads of places near meiji university that sell last years models for that kind of price. Also some of the resorts they give discount tickets for are almost impossible to get to on you own. Every year I can find 3-4 day packages but you have to go to the resort by over night bus. They cost about 20,000 en. If you go with a few friends its not to bad because you can drink on the way up(on the snow drun
  23. eskimobasecamp, Hold a small but sharp knife over a gass flame to kill the bugs, then stab your, "liquid sack". Haha
  24. Size 10 are easy. Is it an American size 10? You can get up to size 13 in most rental places(its easier to get larger ski boot sizes though) But as others have said, its better to buy them, even you can get a cheap last years brand in Tokyo for 6000 yen.
