  1. Oyuki kigan good point. Even for training they have limited uses. If you fall on them you can break you thumb pretty easily. Since moving to snowblades never used them, when going back to carvers I didnt see the point as there is plenty of room to carve and having fun, i.e. taking a jump or rail is pretty dangerous with poles.
  2. you guys have the luxury of colours? I only have basic website access through a text browser haha. This is my desktop
  3. In Internet explorer you can change the order of languages used. In the Tools > Internet Options window.
  4. Well you just need as flexible as possible. Especialy on Japanese pipes, the ones I have been on are far too narrow. Also the board should be as short as possible. That being said, has anybody seen the new mini boards, not the skate boards with a blade, but just real short like 1m. I think rossignol sells some.
  5. Dumbstick, I have. I have a mixed feeling about them. Because they are comfortable at first but after six or 7 hours your feet and thighs become the shape of them(as with all socks but a bit more pronounced). I will go back to my original recomendation of getting Japanese 5 toed ski/board socks. They keep your toes quite dry so the sweat doesnt get cold quickly.
  6. In most of Europe, most places have posted and usualy its a condition of lift passes that you are responsible for others on piste. e.g. if somebody falls you become responsible to get that person help. Would that extend to headphone wearing? You can tell a lot of what is happening behind you from subtle sounds. All that being said, in a race nothing sounds better than some guitar shredding.
  7. My ears are burning, what was said about yellow snow? Anyway I have a pretty thick skin and can see the lighter side of anything.
  8. What is with all the Irish cheeses? Do you want me to commit suicide in Japan? The last time I bought Edam in Japan I nearly got sick, It had turned hard and was a big waste of money.
  9. Had a look at venturesnows boards, but at 700 dollars I wouldnt mind, just the 1.5 man shipping then an unknown amount of duty/exchange rate could bring it up to 10-12 man... Seems that is out the window. At least elan I might be able to buy in Japan. Well cheese man my favorite cheese is probably Edam. Or petit filou. haha.
  10. Forget headphones, I think all music should be banned on piste. Especialy the crap they pipe though the lifts and lower runs and park. Nothing worse than listening to J-pop"s" on a rail. Not stopping there, ban piped street music in Japan. And the "GyooooooZaaaaaaa" van guy driving around my house. Though I have been plesently supprised by some of the import piped music in shops like led zeppelin. Why cant they have that back home.
  11. Kramer is nothing more than product of media. He may shape it but he is also a slave to it. Another product of media is the Black American image. And a paradox is the word nigger. A word that is only taboo for people with white skin... Stupid anecdote follows: When I first came to college in Japan, I went to an international party. There was a young Japaneses guy walking up to foreigners, he was the kind of guy that was fanatical about American media and slogans, well he would come up to everybody and say "Whats up Nigger" I tried to explain that it would come over offensive to almost
  12. You can get tabi and five fingure toed socks in Japan these days. I found them quite good last year.
  13. Fattwins pretty good review of Nozawa, I went there last year and the Halfpipe was terrible, its entrance had one wall of bare rock... Still the rest of the runs were great, some places Japanese wouldnt touch the POW, so I went alone there.
  14. I don't think it has anything to do with Sony. Nobody is forcing anybody to camp out. I want a PS3, but I can wait a few weeks. Though I would love a first gen one, like the PSP the firmware was pretty shoddy on the first runs, and you could copy and play games easily. The same thing will probably happen with the PS3.
  15. "good people" I hate them, people that call themselves "good people", they are often the worst and just have to reassure everybody that they are "good people".
  16. Everybody thanks for the great replies. db le pu looking into thoes boards now. Price and if I can get them sent to Japan will be a big factor but I like their plain design. 3 part b? Should I have Hire or Rosu? Does anybody know resorts where the toilet is at the top of the mountain, I dont want to put her off on the first day.
  17. Why didnt you board the sand? I used to sledge sand quarries when I was young.
  18. 1: does anybody remember the Zen Wide snowbard from Flow. Well it was about 28.5 cm wide at the shoulder. I always wanted to get one but couldnt. Does anybody know of a comparable board this year? Anything that will fit at 31cm boot? 2: Has anybody ever used risers/elevators on there board? I have used them on skis, quite helpful in deep pow. But now I want to get them to over come my large feet problem. 3: What is the best way to pull Japanese boarding chicks?
  19. Quote: how about both of the shangai hai nights/noons, starsky and hutch, royal tenembalms...ect. type cast or not, that guy is great. how can you retort a line like: ....yeah let's not try to define a thing like this, it's just too natural...hey do you two want to kiss?.....? [/QB] Films Wilson was good in, he was working with Ben Stiller. (somebody I am not a huge fan of either) they made a good combo, but I think ben is actualy quite a good director in his own right. In the end people have to identify with charactors in movies. The whole crappy film of You me and Dupree, is centered a
  20. I also checked out http://www.hanzismatter.com/ (safe for work). But in the end may have some kanji myself. Though I dont think yoroshiku will go down well in onsens.
