I am 12 and 30... to me duck makes no sense...but thats just me, who am to tell the rest of the world there wack. But seriously riding backwards with these angles is not a problem, its like anything you just adapt. most of my friends ride duck and slay powdies, but terje is my hero and I do what ever he does.
  2. I don't know much, actually anything about arai, is it that good there? Any pics of the danger zones? Quote: Originally posted by Toque: have skied in a few permanently closed areas in W/B and experienced amazing runs of deep powder, pillows and cool straightlines. I do so at my own risk. I as for you doing it at your own risk, almost every poach at WB is a poach because of the terrain it hangs over, in most cases bowls where the average holiday'r skiis, so really your good times are at there risk. With that said I do my fair share, I dont always calculate th
  3. i live in a zone surrounded by the look your after, that gets me stoked too but the view from happo sent my brain spinning, i havent been any where else in japan but visually I was stunned on how cool things are in hakuba. rad spot

  5. i was out in the zone of all zones on friday and took this pic, again confirming glaciers are cool. http://www.pieandchips.com/doggy/riceburgs.jpg theres a bunch more special pics at www.doggy.com from that day
  6. another reason they are cool www.pieandchips.com/redbull/life1.jpg hey spud where are your spics taken?
  7. as spud said...they can be boring to ride but some are also super fun to ride and a visualy stunning, inbounds they are usually a little tamer but in the backcountry, they get a little more interesting. there is somethin special about riding a nice line and haveing to rip threw snow bridges at the end of a run. playsafe www.pieandchips.com/roto2.jpg
  8. the last 2 days have dried up and today is the first bluebird day and a few more coming...It's go time pics of last 2 days here www.doggy.com
  9. it was 2 years ago, i originally went to photograph some stuff in Milan but it was cancelled when i got there, so i got on a train, fell asleep and woke up in venice, spent a few days there, then austria, bubapest,, and then head to northern italy and back to milan. all in all a good month for freestyling it. All were pretty sweet each had there own charm. I have a ton of pics from my trip, If I get some time i'll scan some of the better ones.

  11. heres a self portrait from an over nighter
  12. go it is soooooo nice there. I spent 2 weeks there, I just walked around the mountains from hut to hut, trail to trail. it was awsome. If you dont mind a little or a lot of hiking. Cheaper to stay in the alpine cabins other wise staying in town is expensive.
  13. Quote: Originally posted by Creek Boy: ianbc, you gonna come back to Hakuba mate? it all depends on what happens with the snow here and there... but if I do it will be after the 26th. I'm itchin'n for Happo ...ski'n and darts www.pieandchips.com/doggy/skindarts.jpg nick i can barely walk these days Im so beat...I almost need a break......almost... I definatly got a horseshoe up my arse this winter.

  15. 2 rides you cant go wrong with are the jeremy jones (I have at leats 3 friends riding these this winter) and custom x's ...you cant go wrong with these boards. any board with a nice deepish side cut and pow'd out nose should do you fine. i ride a 163 burton air .. its on the cheaper end of burtons but it has the side cut and nose and rips shit up.
  16. i should also ad if you want to see it in action there is bonus section in a snowboard movie "The Community Project". It has a tribute to the founder Greg Todds. who past on 1 year ago in an avy. He lands a pretty healthy one footed madonna over a road gap...It's awsome.

Quote: Originally posted by Kumapix: how does a nonoard work? do you just use it on hills in your backyard, or on skiruns? the noboard is mainly designed for powder conditions, anywhere you can find them. i rode on happo and had the best noboard day I have had yet. Riding hard pack can be deadly because I have not yet figured out the toe side edge yet. My friend Cholo rips on one and is able to shred hard pack. When ever i came across groomers I would head to the edge of the run or tobaggen it to the next soft bit of snow. in BC we use them with mostly snowmobile access areas, I know
  18. Quote: Originally posted by Kumapix: that shot of yuuta (spinning snowboarder) is good enough for a magazine. Ianbc 2 questions: what camera did you use? what boards are in your quiver? Camera is canon elf 2 mp jobby. on this trip I rode burton 163 air and an older terje that I use for a nonoard (bindingless powboard) http://www.pieandchips.com/hakuba/snowvan.jpg thanks for the comments
  19. I spent the last 3 weeks in hakuba at nicks(fattwins) place it was the time of my life... a 5 day stay turned in to 22 days. I just want to thank nick and the house for the great times on and off the slopes. nicks pension is a really good place if your headed out there. i met lots of good folk there. never a dull moment. I even got to watch nick fall off his roof with a shovel and hammer in his hand! Thanks Nick fun riding me http://www.pieandchips.com/hakuba/ianslash.jpg host fattwins caori http://www.pieandchips.com/hakuba/caoridamshoot.jpg caori
  20. yes future proof is the best one Ive scene yet for taking to it the next level and actually being a good film rather than just a bunch of clips and music. The DCP/Mueller part is why i am so stoked to be coming there. I am not really looking for alpine steeps this time of year, More tree skiing and varied terrain like in the movie. It sounds like Ill be checking Hakuba Thanks
  21. the beauty of whistler is Mt Baker is super close(4hours) drive. whistler kicks arse no matter what people say about the crowds (which can be gross) if its on then there aint no better. baker is usually prety chill no lodging at the hill so its a really chill down home vibe... and when it's on OH My. other than that you cant go wrong anywhere in BC if it's snowing.
