Problem with Hakuba is that there are not many properties that are attractive to foreigners. There are bugger all condos (unless you count the eyesore on the road up to Happo from the station). Also to buy something 2nd hand and then use it as an investment is difficult as you need to get approval from the fire dept and town office. There are very few properties under 15 years old, and those older than that do not meet saftey standards. On the good side Land is cheap. The blocks in our area are only about 3 mill yen for about 500sq.m

I took the plunge. I spoke for about 2 min to my family in NZ for free then the call cut off and told me I had to purchase some credits. Connection was shocking too, which is strange cos we're on hikari.

My wife's shopping habits. 1. Like most Japanese people we buy everyday. My wife loves to cook and really goes for broke (hence my waist line). Trouble is she gets so focused on what she's gonna cook that she forgets to buy anything for breakfast. Great going to bed on a full tum, but having to ching frozen yakionigiri for the kids breakky gets my goat. 2. The old " just popping down to the shop for..." turns into a 2-3 hours trip. Still she made a great apple pie for desert last night so I can't complian too much.
