  1. thanks for the advice, fubuki. i'm going. but i'm going mainly to see my brother and his sprouting nephews and to welcome the new one. i wanna teach the oldest (5) to snowboard on our resort days. we've squeezed the heli days in tight as. if it's no-fly weather, we get our money back and have snowcat days. i've been working for 9 years of my life now, supporting myself for about 11. there's a reason i horde my money away in summers ebc do u remember what i told u when we were coming down from tsugaike last summer? u should ditch graduation, especially if there's nothing invested in
  2. u should go, veronica. sounds like you can afford the flight and you've got the time off. this year's snow sucks here. go for it
  3. he's going to be Church Boy starting this spring w/ his new gig! going from girdwood w/ chugach powder guides. brother lives an hour's flight from anchorage. i want: Wall Steet, Dentrites, Sphinx. but Sphinx is far and CPG may not go there
  4. yes. my brother and i r doing the weekend rate, i think 50K vertical. he's got family stuff and i also wanna play w/ my nephews. mid april. can't wait!
  5. good crip, bp. i paid for my flight to AK and made a deposit w/ the chopper guides today. i feel great.
  6. maybe the instructor was holding back b/c he thought you wouldn't understand japanese. if u say u can understand it. did u make that understood? but, still, u paid 1 man yen for that? i would have ripped their head off for a full refund. f#&$ that s&'$. fts, that's a rip off. i would've asked for the kocho-sensei's boss and ripped his head off too. sounds like horrible service.
  7. good TR, fubuki i see u still haven't recovered from sunburn from a couple weeks ago. or u got another one sunday. did u use my duck hunters again? hope they worked out well goodbyes suck. there's always a next time.

  15. good for getting something going b/c u believe in the cause, oyuki! cherry and i would love to make it up, but i've got work early the next morning. she says go for it!! and would like to have that discussion w/ you in person
  16. yeah fubuki, i think once u try MSRs, you won't want duck-hunting Atlas. mine are 1025s and are actually better suited for someone 80+kgs. i'd love a pair of this year's MSRs- they look sick
  17. Excellent Saturday. Five: FT, kumapix, fubuki, BCW, and sock monkey planned to leave at 7:30. we got out the door at 8. A conbini stop and Citizen Cope in FT's van on the way to Tsugaike. Kumapix rocked up just after we got tickets and were in the gondie line. 45 minute easy hike up Hiyodori. Citizen Cope looping in my head. We were expecting: blue bird, no/little wind, stable north aspects. Sock monkey's GPS chartered every meter of our route. Altimeters and FT's map. solar radiation was affecting the south-facing slopes of the terrain we were in. It was warm by now and only before 1
  18. needless to say, thank JTF Christ AK and everyone is all right. the pic of Hugh @ Mon-Pigeon says it all. get well soon, AK. and get a helmet. that sucks, one of your first days back after a two+ week? break.

  20. she took both. much better now. fubuki, let's happo! c u tonight good stoke ft
  21. sad. it sounds like avalanches are rare in that area... mentioning the last time there was an avalanche victim (1990), and being that the guides all thought the area was safe that morning. --rapidly changing conditions --what the faithful daily reports (for hakuba, at least) say about always watching out for "the threat from above" (thanks, SJ and DR people) --traveling in HUGE groups (18 or something like that in one group?!) --the victims were the last/some of the last skiers to go down the slope (more people who have skied on a slope = more wiegh loading on the snowpack, easier
  22. a cheap fix option is pocket warmers. you can buy them at any pharmacy. just open and in ten minutes it warms up. lasts 6-8 hours. the brand i use a lot is called HOKKAIRO.
  23. yeah, freezing. that's as focused as a picture i could take not blur, but windblown snow every where. it was funny to look straight up once in a while during the hike and see all of the snow blowing overheard
  24. yeah, i have only one gf. she's a skier who can "almost ski parallel" (her words). she has a bellywarmer with cherries on it. Cherry and i r taking the train&bus fri night. she'll ski w/ her friend at tsugaike.
  25. great pictures, slow thanks for the email. can't wait to do it all again this weekend. gf is on meds and recovering from her cold. should be up this weekend, too
