Waxing questions

After scraping try brushing a bit to open it up. you might have scraped so good that the surface is completely flat on wet/old snow this can suck your board onto the snow. -
Waxing questions
marnix replied to SomeSnowboarder's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Cork is much more efficient with wax. If you want to use hi-fluor I would suggest cork, after applying a few layers of base-wax with iron. But in general just get some alround wax and borrow a good iron from someone or look for a second hand non-steam regular iron (don't set it too hot) -

Thought you said you were lazy Kumapix? Or is this the reason why you keep changing your mind? -

According to him, the stuff just did not work and was not something you want to depend on in the winter. Nice design though. Peak uses top notch materials. Their main problem is that they don't know how to make good functioning outdoor clothing from it. There's always something wrong with their products (bad inserted zip, strange cut hood, bad taped seams etc). But if you just want to look good in the bar/lodge then Peak is a ver -

I know where youre coming from... but go the geek option: get bib and brace shell pants. They are so incredibly comfortable for messy pow days and bad weather. I will never change back. With B&B you dont need a super lock down powder skirt. Or get a one piece suit -

Once in a while you break a ski, better than breaking a bone. -

4 years ago at the Reb Bull Snowthrill Bruno Compagnet and Seb Michaud both wore 1piece suits. Bruno won the comp with an amazing creative line and Seb made one of his trademark 25m backflip staight from the starting point. Not really guys with white rear entry boots. -

ski the taos
marnix replied to montoya's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
It seems they really don't let boarders on their grounds, in Alta you can at least board down using the lifts on the snowbird side -

Montoya, last time I checked Taos was one of the 4 skier-only resorts in the USA. So unless you take up skiing this is a no go area. -

Maybe Hakuba should sponsor you and make you stay there all winter. -
I agree with O11. Those questions are not absolutes and it really depends when you take the test. After a busy stressfull day at the office or after a nice leisurely weekend up in the mountains. I took the test 3 times and 3 different profile came out. The only variable to alwasy came back was thinking. (maybe I think too much to make this test work)

My sister has the Dynastar exclusive Legends and she really likes them too. Her first wider ski and suddenly she doesn't stay on the groomers anymore. -

From a distance they can look like wolfs. Saw another one at Nozawa last week and at first me and my buddy thought it was a wolf. -
chair lifts
marnix replied to rigor mortis's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
The windshield bulbs are ok. But it is strange that they automatically close even when it is sunny. The one's I have been on in Europe you had to pull them down yourself so there it is optional. -
chair lifts
marnix replied to rigor mortis's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Last week I heard someone talking about a chair with heated seats somewhere in Europe. On a cold day I don't think I would want to get off the lift once I'm on it. -

I understood from a friend of mine that Gore is very insisting on having a zip flap. As they test all gear that uses their membrane they vetod the weather resistant zips at first, but had to give in at the end because many clothing manufacturers were threating Gore with some sort of boycot. Berghaus is very traditional so they probably just follow the Gore guidelines to the letter. -

Last weekend my wife and I spent a great weekend up at Club Med in Sahoro, courtesy of SJ. Thanks!!! Just after our arrival we saw The Beatles. Strange buggers with very wild and weird hairdos. Then on Saturday during lunch time an ostriche was walking around Club Med. Well that were my sightings for the weekend. The Jpop screaming through some loudspeaking kept other anumals faraway from Club Med or Sahoro. But I think they yelled for more snow and that is what we got. Some very fine freshies for 2 days of fine skiing. The resort doesn't have challenging runs but with t
