Hakuba....Narita..Time to kill.
farquah replied to Mantas's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
Really easy to get to. Its the actual Narita town stop (on either Keisei or JR which are a couple of hundred meters apart), just get off there and you can stroll down the main road. Its a really old kind of Japan feel and at he bottom is Shinshoji Temple. This year is its 1020 year anniversasry or something. There are actually "branches" of Narita San all over Japan, I was in Okinawa and I saw a sign with the ??? there too, also a big advert for one in Osaka`s Umeda station. Narita is actually a pretty nice old town, but most people only think if it in terms of the airport. -
Eating out at Shigakogen
farquah replied to mandycreighton's topic in Snow talk, trip reports, Japan avalanche & backcountry
There is a pretty cool Nepal restaurant just next to Hotel Shiga Kogen (think that is what its called!) At the bottom of Ichinose in the little town area. The Naan bread there is awsome and someimes a live band at night there. Reccomend it. -

The temple in Narita is actually worth a visit. Its the third biggest in Japan and has a really cool Japanese style park at the back of it with waterfall and little lake. Lots going on at the moment with the new years period really busy, (despite tourists making it an absolute pain in the ass to get around town for those of us who live here!!) If your other half really must do shopping there is a big mall just near by too. -

God stuff! Hope to be able to make it up to this and bring those stools up too FT (apologies for delay). May have space in my car if anyone else is going up from Chiba direction and needs a ride. -
I live in Narita, it`s only 55 mins on the Keisei Limited express train to Nippori. Here you can catch the Yamanote line to all major parts of Tokyo. Also the Keisei train is only 780yen to tokyo rather than the 3,000 yen for the NEX JR train, or the 1000 yen for the rapid JR train which both do it in about the same time. (except NEX goes direct to Shibuya). From Haneda you have to change a few times which adds time, just change at Shinagawa onto Yamanote and then get off at Nippori. There is also the Keisei Skyliner which is bit quicker and about 1700yen. Also from Nippori or Ueno. If youa

Currently got the smells of making a top mulled wine at the moment, added some Brandy, orange zest, cloves, cinnamon, and a wee bit of honey. Awsome winter tipple. Thats when a cheap bottle of wine comes in great!! Serving tonight at a party with some freshly made mince pies too!! (don`t mean meat mince pies, the crimbo ones!!) Taste sensation!

Righto I have had a look and still not sure what site to use. I downloaded the client from bittorrent.com but the selcetion of things they have is pretty small, unless I am looking in the wrong place. Also had a look on Earth Reactor or something, and can`t seem top work it out, LOADS of links to rubbish but can`t seem to find how to download stuff. Basically I want to get sports and some things from BBC, natural history docus etc. So if anyone has any reccomendations on an EASY to use site that`s navigable.
