  1. Bugger!! Cheers for having a nosey around for us, much appreciated. Was thinking it may come down to batering with the local "friendly" touts!! Mate will drop you a pm before head out and try and hook up for a cold one if your keen over that weekend. Cheers again mate, and apologies for hijacking thread!!
  2. I wish that was the case Ngarutoa however I was being mumbled to in JApanese for about 3 hours about IRB visit to Japan. And you know I wouldn`t miss out on a piss up!
  3. Ngarutoa, you know my words of wisdom were purely for a helping out a fellow Gaijin in NIhon!! I am just a considerate bloke!!
  4. Yama am reckoning that judging from the lack of early posts it involved a fair few beers!!!
  5. Don`t have it back in UK but have eaten it in New Zealand when living there. ALso saw a phallic shaped Daikon at the weekend, women were praying to it and then chow down on it, part of a local festival type thing after New Years usually!!!!! Worship then munch!!
  6. Good night?? Did SJ rock the Club House? Realy wanted to get down but was stuck in a rugby meeting which was utterly pointless, but when in japan....!
  7. SJ how long does it take for the ticket to come through. Won the Niigata one last week and was wandering if can use it next weekend? Possible?
  8. From the working holiday site FAQ`s.. Q3. What kind of work am I able to do on a Working Holiday Visa? A3.As a Working Holiday Maker there are no restrictions on working hours and types of jobs with the exception of 'fuzoku' (host/hostessing, stripping working in massage parlours, prostitution, etc.), which you are not permitted. Sorry Sweets looks like your out of luck!!!
  9. Take the Keisei line and it costs around about 700 Yen from Narita. So pretty cheap, yeah. Also regular buses from the hotels which you may be able to ride for free if you are employee, not sure.
  10. Sweets, If you work in Narita you are not far from Tokyo anyway. Plus you could live in CHiba or somewhere mid point between the Tokyo and Narita. It takes me about 50mins to get into Tokyo and you can drive it in about 35 if the roads are good. Also lot less of the hastle and high prices of living in middle of Tokyo. I often go into the city for a night out or whatever.
  11. There is always plenty of jobs going in the bars and clubs of Roppongi for Gaijin at places like Gas Panic and the like. Don`t reccomend it (unless you like working in dumpsville!), but it`s an option if you get desperate!! Also try some of the other nicer areas with Gaijin bars, may have something there. THere are quite a few jobs going in hotels here in Narita. A couple of mates work at hotels and don`t have a degree, and there is some work at the airport too. If you look around there is a fair bit to choose
  12. I have air con Gamera, thats the only mod conn I do have!!! Actually I don`t think that Ogasawara is as humid as here on mainland Japan. Because it is a small Island then there is often a rather nice sea breeze, I actualy found the climate there a lot more pleasing than here!! Its hot temperature wise but not as stifflingly "muggy" as it is here, it is a sub tropical climate though. But there is always the sea to dive into when you over heat!!
  13. Sj`ers invade Ogasawara!!! If anyone does want to visit I reccomend coming around Bon Odori time, the Island comes alive and there is soo much going on. The festival itself is great with dancing and hanabi on the beacj and plenty of local liquer to ease your throat and chat about the days diving!! Unfortunately there is no getting out of the Ferry trip and its prety grueling but there are a fair few little Islands to see on the way and of coarse plenty of beers and chats with fellow passengers to be had!! If lucky you can even hang out with some of these locals when you arrive!!!
  14. Markie, am coming over to HK on the 18th March for the Rugby 7`s. Am trying to find info on tickets at the mo, don`t suppose you have any knowledge of price, and where I can get them do you? Am running into a few dead ends at the mo. Also hit me up wiht details of good spots for some cheeky night time action!! Cheers
  15. Nagano Special Olympics All you need to know about the games!! THere some really cool stuff going on. I am prob going upb to check it out for the closing ceremony on 5th, and even get to live with the Sweedish team in my Chalet in Shiga Kogen!!! SJ are you going to do any special report on it or anything??

They dont consider the fact that their second-hand smoke affects others just as well, the health implications, and that its inconsiderate. IMHO I agree here, I don`t even think there is a Japanese phrase for passive smoking is there?? Its pretty distgusting, and what really peeves me is how a smoking area can be in the MIDDLE of the platform at stations so you have to walk through it or wiat near it, yet still some people smoke on the benches etc!!!! Put them at the furthest end of the platform in the cold wind
  17. As i have posted before on here I strongly reccomend anyone to come and visit my summer home the Ogasawara Islands if you are interested in nature and or diving. This is the "Gallapogos of Asia" with a huge amount of endemic species adn palaegic birds. PLus home to Humpback Whales in Spring and Green Turtles in Summer not to mention al year long reams of tropical fish and the most AMAZING diving in the world. If anyone`s keen I`ll even give them a free tour of the MArine Centre and you can even come and release some baby turtles!!!! There is an offer you can`t refuse, what can I say I am
  18. Quote: Next you'll be telling me that Wales and Scotland are stand-alone nations! It's REALLY a FOUR nations event: Italy, France, Ireland, England/Scotland/Wales! (You're all English, Dude!) [/QB] Mate youa re seriuosly setting yourself up for a big fall there!!! As for England winning WC becasue of one player..well thats a pile of pith. The reason we won was mainly due to a fantastic forward unit who time and time again secured great ball to give thje worlds best number 10 '(at the time) options. THe defence and the forward play was best in the world and hence wo
  19. I see that there has been some laws passed to change Tobacco advertising in public places last night on the news. By end of March appraently not allowed in taxis or on the bus. Also a new type of ID card to stop kids being able to purchase fags from vending machines. Good idea in theory but I am sure it wouldn`t be too hard to obtain one of these cards if you really wanted to.
  20. Kite snowboarding !! Mammoth Kites, wide boards, lots of padding and big winds at the top of the mountain either giving you HUGE air or blowing you away, XXXXX-treme!!
  21. Anyone involved in this at all? My school chalet is being used as the base for a team from Sweeden I think which is pretty cool. Heard that Bill Clinton popped up and took a look at the weeekend, anyone spot him? Personally I think its great that persons of all abilities are able to compete at this level now, good stuff.
  22. Went to a cool little Wildlife Reserve near where I live on Sunday where I often take time out to chill. Great weather and saw a variety of things including Kingfisher, Herons, Nutcrakers, Tanukii, and warblers. Realy nice place to escape to when town life is taking its toll, an oasis in the suburbian jungle!! However doesn`t quite top Yama`s hamster on a leash!!!!
  23. Congrats to Ireland and Wales and as with all my other posts on this topic above England are just dire. I am renouncing my English herritage and taking up tifddly winks instead!! Anyway am really excited about the Wales Ireland game! It will be huge! Anyone care to make a prediction????
  24. Am actually cooking a bit of a slap up candle lit dinner for a lady friend tonight, however last time I attempted similar I nearly ended up burning down a small pagoda where I was cooking (it was a picnic!). Thus spraying the lady I was with with beer in an attempt to extinguish the flames!! Needless to say the relationship didn`t last particularly long!! " title="" src="graemlins/cry.gif" /> Am hoping tonight will be a little less traumatic!!
