  1. Final Saturday. Officailly been termed Bosh Sat. An all NZ deal with my money on the Hurricanes to clinch it. Will be at the new Kiwi Bar in Moto Yawata if anyone is around. Any takers for a wager on the winner? Also did you hear about Ohata overtaking Campo to become the world record test try holder!!! Bit of a surprise! Took him 55 tests compared to 101 of Campese, apparently he was pretty shocked commenting after being told, "You're kidding. Are you serious?"

  3. In Wakayama will be part of a research team gathering data on the nesting turtles over summer down there. As CB said the same as I do in Ogasawara. I`ll be mostly monitoring habitat change along with IDing nesting females along the coast there. We then link up with various other centres around the globe comparing previuos years numbers compared to this years and analyse the change. This is who I work for here at the moment, there is an English page too. Sea Turtle Association of Japan
  4. Soub.< Basically its playing in the sea most of the summer and running up and down a beach lots with these beasts!
  5. Sweet CB that would be a help. Will have my van so pretty flexible. Will be finishing work most mornings around 4am and will cruise down to where is looking best am hoping.
  6. Just had to do the Bleep Test last night at rugby training, talk about a non fun way to run. Like human pong between the lines!
  7. The weather is getting warmer and the mornings now devoted to hitting the beach. Had a pearler this morning in Chiba, camped over night in my van and was up with it at the crack of this morning. Top session and stoaked for summer. Just taken a job down in Wakayama Ken studying the turltes again for July and August, will be based on Senrihama and around that stretch of sand, just wandering if anyone is around that area and knows if there are any decent/ semi-decent spots?
  8. A friend of mine, now married and with three kids here in Japan was having a chat about downloading music at the weekend as he just discovered the internet, and came out with a scorcher....."Have you heard of this new guy...Seal I think his name is..pretty good!" Been here far too long, I asked him if he had heard of a new boy band out too "The Beatles"!!
  9. Does any of you boys around Tokyo fancy meeting up for the final and a session?
  10. Semi Final time! Haven`t heard form this thread for a while so thought would try and breathe a bit of life into it. Missed a few weekends of picks on the old virtual rugby but there has been some awsome games recently. Looking forward to the semi`s and am pretty sure its going to be a Hurricanes V Crusaders final! Beers and bosh time! Leon McDonald is on fire recently! And looking forward to some huge hits again from So`oialo
  11. Hey if Mumrarr the Ever Living couldn`t beat him then a shark with or without lasers has no chance!! Schnarf!
  12. Tiger V Croc Not a shark but the Tiger gave a pretty good showing here! Never underestimate the power of a pussy!
  13. Always find it sounds as though you are talking like Daffy Duck or Sylvester the Cat if you read it written like that!!
  14. We had a guy on the uni rugby team who was always striving for the ever elusive 5 second belch. He managed an officially timed 4.6sec once but never managed to surpass it.
  15. Tohokubum... I agree its good that there is evidence of the poliuce doing something about it but the fact that it occured is pretty sick. Japan does have more than its fair share of twisted perverts running around, and its a sub culture that encourages it. Maybe Japan has come a way in recent years but is still WAY behind other countries when it comes to this stuff....just ask any female you know if they have had the old "chikan" experiance on the train?! Would wager about 80% would say yes and that it was just something the put up with. (not that its just confined to Japan, howeevr is a lot m
  16. Popped in there a few nights back after a meeting. Was a pretty "cool" place (excuse the pun) but REALLY expensive! Was glad I wasn`t paying, not much change from a man!! You can only stay really short time then its just uncomfortably cold though. Interesting experience and great PR for Absolut. Certainly not an environmentally friendly bar either!! The use of ice glasses cuts down on waste but that would be about it...must be astronimical electric bills!
  17. Just been watching the news and it really is gob smacking the crap which happens sometimes in Japan!! A little girl was injured in a bicycle accident and the father called an ambulance. The ambulance crew got her in the van and drove off to the hospital and the father accompanied in the ambulance. While his daughter is lying in pain and crying in the bed of the ambulance he meanwhile is leaning over taking photos up the skirt of the nurse who is helping his daughter!!!!!!! Talk about parental concern!!! He was arrested upon arrival at the hospital. Japans` increasingly see
  18. ...from the pic I am now Haiku inspired!!
  19. Was driving to work last summer when I pulled around the corner to see a wrinkly oyaji drying himself off in the street outside his backdoor after taking a bath!! Stark bullock naked!! Was also in the 100yen shop one day whith a female friend. I went off to the other side of the shop looking for something when ten minutes later my friend comes running around the shelving both half in hysterics and half in shock. An old jiji had just whipped out his tackle and started to give himself a 100 Yen store shufty infront of her!!!! At what point in yourlife you decide in the morning when
  20. Cheers mate. Had Tests and entered into a 7`s comp in OZ. Unfortunately got a fair pummling but great experiance. We played three tests, Fiji Bhati, New Zealand Maoris and USA. The crowd was awseome with the local Aussies getting well behind the underdogs i.e us!! Got a bit of abuse from the crowd at first which put me off my game a bit but loved it all the same and ended up earning the nickname "blonde samurai"!! The america game was pretty close but they edged it in experiance to be honest. Also the first time the team had really played together. Should be better for September h
  21. It started becoming a real big thing at home in UK when i visited for a couple of weeks. I was shocked at how much people were panicing about it after coming from Japan where it seems noone is really that bothered publicly. My brother works for the RSPB (Bird charity in UK) and is having a real difficult time at the moment as people are actually going out and destroying nests and other bird and wildfowl habitats. The first case was discovered in Scotland in a swan, and people were urged to report any dead swans they spotted. What followed was a complete influx of reports of pretty much a
  22. Sorry Off topic! Can understand a certain amount of angst toward rugby after being forced to play Soubriquet. I play because I enjoy the game, but there are plenty of times when standing in the pissing rain and being yelled at by a sadistic welsh PE teacher that put a dampner on it. Sports should be fun and what you want to do at school, not forced into it for sure. Why is it that all sports teachers are Welsh anyway in England!! On the passport thing I would keep my own British passport also i have been told, and would receive a special permanent visa and passport from Japan, there
  23. Came back from a trip to UK couple of weeks back and was waking up at 5am for a few days dueto jet lag. Decided to get up most of the days went running and did some training. Was surprised how many people were about and I had done more by about 10am than I usually accomplish in a day. Felt great too, so decided to try and keep it up. Worked for about four days then had a big night out and it put me back on the straight and narrow!! Back to hitting the snooze button with a pillow muffeld grumble for an hour!
  24. I have been selected for the national Japan Rugby League team and 7`s team here this year and recently went on tour and played a test in Australia. I had to have lived here a minimum of three years to qualify, this September we have games in Jamaica to qualify for the 2008 World Cup. If we do qualify and I am selected for the squad I will be able to gain Japanese citizenship through it. However I do have the option to retain my own pasport etc, just means i can never play for my own country at rugby again, (not that that will be much of an issue I don`t think!!)
