  1. Hey Indo. saw the Navistar at Birgerworld today. Waves were a bit sloppy, but still fun. It was freaking busy though.. That boat has a great rep. I'll sure your bro will score hard
  2. Sweet! Am keen to hear how you go Mantas. The forecast for the next week looks good. A couple of solid swell are due to hit
  3. I drink pretty much everyday. Nothing excessive, I just enjoy having a beer or three. Working in a resort environment doesn't help matters much - everyone is always up for a good time and you've got to join the party... not that I resist it much. In Australia, I don't really go out to drink but have a few beers or glasses of wine at home every night, even when I'm working a 9-5 job. I just enjoy it. I'm actually pretty surprised that a lot of SJ crew don't drink much at all. When I'm travelling in places where it is difficult to drink alcohol, it's no problem for me to not drink for days
  4. Hey Crew I've been pretty quiet on the forums lately - just been busy busy busy looking after the resort, surf guiding and taking photos... From the looks of things it seems like Oz is pumping at the moment! The past week of waves has been pretty rank up here - we've had a week of howling NW winds and storms. Surf options have been very limited for much of the last week - up here there's only been one protected spot, and a couple of hours south there's another spot that's been copping the wind. Hence, it's been busy - 9 or so charter boats at each spot. Crazy eh? A new swel
  5. what on earth....? is that dude pretending to be in a wheelchair just so she pushes him around?
  6. Answer it, click it onto speaker (I have an old brick of a phone without any fancy handsfree hookups) and leave my phone on my lap while I chat. The biggest difficulty with this procedure is having to put down my beer and joint while I answer the phone.
  7. these cats pretty much sum it up
  8. When I first read the title of this thread, I thought "whaaaat? why would you want to live in a shipping container?" But those pics are pretty rad. It would be cheap and it puts an old container to good use. Are there any kinds of council building regulations in Japan with regard to a style of house? Surely the neighbours wouldn't be too happy with someone just plonking down a shipping contained next door to them.
  9. I would get it done professionally. Mostly because I don't want to destroy something delicate inside the camera.
  10. I think that legally a woman can use both her maiden and married surname. So you can have bank accounts etc under two different names for the same person. It's strange when a couple divorce and a woman keeps her ex-husband's name. She might have had that name for longer than she had her maiden name, so it would be a weird thing to change back again
  11. All I would say is... don't buy anything with a flat roof. You'll spend all winter shoveling the thing instead of heading up the hill.
  12. Sweet. Sounds pretty good. you working for yourself?

I'm not enjoying the draining lefts so much this year. I keep getting rattled. The lack of an exit on most waves isn't something I'm that into at the moment.... I'd rather be surfing a few of the rights up here at 4-6ft that are still heavy, but a bit more user friendly Indo - how often do you get in
  14. Waves here aren't too flash at the moment. small swell, suss winds, penty of crew hunting surf.... but having said that, we can be prett spoilt up here. I mean, there's still waves to be had. Looks like some fun swell will hit over the next few days, and then a massive swell due to arrive in a bout a week. Gonna be seriously big. Depending on our new guests we might hit something solid or run and hide somewhere more protected. Either, we should score something epic as long as the winds cooperate
  15. i just saw a pic of tarimbang/miller's right and it got me thinking about the place. it seems like pretty rugged terrain, quite a barren island. thought it might be good to check it out for a few weeks in late august/september. yeah, seems like each area only has one spot to surf. i guess it's just a case of sitting and waiting. as long as there's interesting stuff to check out it could be ok
  16. yeah TB, he pretty much has a new haircut every week. it's hard keeping up with him...! mantas, indo - you guys spent anytime on sumba? just been looking at some pics of the surf there. looks pretty heavy, but some epic set-ups we've had a fair bit of swell over the past week. surfed chunky e-bay and closing out pitstops yesterday. met some other crew who went over to nokandui. they paddled out, saw an 8ft set then promptly paddled back to the boat. i woulda done the same i reckon. that wave has me rattled
  17. There's been all sorts of rumours about this, but I'm not in the boat industry so I don't know for sure... Late last year there was word that foreign registered boats had to change to an Indonesian flag or put up a bond of 95% of the boats value. I don't know if this is something in Padang only, or all of Indonesia. Anyway, a few boats were held up for early season trips as they came to grips with the new rules, many people flew to Jakarta and got the info from the source, and I actually have no idea what the outcome is/was. It seems to be business as usual out here. There's been plenty
  18. nothing so sinister as politics... budget cuts and i guess we were the ones to get dropped... i think a lot of stuff on that site is done for free in exchange for advertising or other such stuff got a crazy deep 5 second pit a few days ago. still buzzing on that one!
  19. Hey Crew The surf's been pumping up here for the past week. We have had some serious swell, which has been a welcome change after a month of small-ish conditions... Anyway, one of the best things about swell is that it opens up a bunch of spots. We scored one of the region's premier lefts for 2 days by ourselves, and backed it up with 2 days at one of the better rights in the area. Stoked is the word that comes to mind! Anyway, having trouble linking pics at the moment. Used to do a surf report for a big surf site, but unfortunatey that is no longer. The pics below are linked from m
  20. Hmmmm... acid eh? Monkeys on acid might be a bit much to handle. They can be very human at times, and I think it would blow your mind too much! Mantas, Jynxx, yep have shopped some pics and articles around to a few mags. Had some good news, fingers crossed they get run somewhere soon. Not much money in it, but it's satisfying to see stuff in print. It's a new thing we're trying. I guess once we get some good contacts things might run a little from there.
  21. I like mixing it up but I also like getting to know a good area. For me, I really really like riding trees and powder. So spending a bit of time in the one spot means you get to poke around properly, find the good hidden stuff and work out how to link it all together. Some people like cruising on groomed trails or hitting parks, or doing other stuff on the slopes. Each to their own, but for me, getting to know a good resort/mountain reaps rewards.
  22. hey crew. cheers for all the kind comments about the photos. although im not sure what junxx meant about the monkeys, but i'll take it as a compliment...! There's a dozen or so restaurants along the main street and enough of a vibe at night. Lifts are all a short 5 minute walk from accom and there's free shuttle buses connecting you to the other resorts. The bests resorts are Akakura and Suginohara. T
  23. Check out Suginohara on a good day too. Just don't tell anyone else about it...
